Enchanted April
It was one of those films that appeal definitely to females more than males, but it wasn't your typical 'girlie' film. It was really funny, and it was one of those films that touch some place in your heart (even though you know in your head that it's a fairytale and not real - some part of you still wishes that somehow it would be wonderful if fairy tales like that could come true).

Chick Flicks Description
In general, 'chick flicks' - as they are known collequially (although in earlier times, they were called 'women's pictures' with melodramatic themes), appeal more to the stereotypical interests of women than men. They are often romantic comedies, tearjerkers with female characters, Cinderella-like 'fairy tales' about finding love, or tales of feminine bonding (with lots of talky dialogue).

What Makes A Film A Chick Flick for Boomers?

I've always thought -- perhaps simplistically -- that a chick flick is, basically, a good date film. The difference is that it's the girl who motivates her guy to buy the ticket. For this summer's films he mentions "Mamma Mia" and "Sex and the City".
I totally disagree! To me a Chick Flick is a film you watch WITHOUT your date/husband/boyfriend. These are films I prefer to watch with my women friends or even by myself.
