The Amazing Chicken Chapel

Ranked #13,473 in Arts & Design, #261,475 overall

Yes, it is a real, live, chicken coup

Some people build bird houses, and then some people build BIRD HOUSES.  This gorgeous ckicken coup was featured on a segment of the HGTV show "Look What I Did!"

Its amazing and fantastic.

The Chicken Chapel is in the front yard not too far off the country road that passes by the house. Passers by are often caught by surprise and turn around at the nearest opportunity to come back for a second look.

It has a steeple!

Many country churches have a steeple similar to this one, but the stained glass on all four sides makes this steeple very special. It took a lot of work to over several years to create all of the custom stained glass that adorns the Chicken Chapel.

You can see the chickens in this view

Yes, that's right. This is a very practical chapel, as the chickens in this photo would tell you. Actually, I'm not certain what they really think, but I would imagine that these chickens feel lucky to have such a charming home.

Check out the stained glass work! All hand done by Jean.

There are far too many features to show them all, but here is some more detail for you to explore. There are many homes that aren't as nicely decorated as this one.

The rooster is often used as an Icon in religious art

At night the chickens come home to roost. This must seem very awe inspiring for those chickens. I hope they have pleasant dreams.

I should mention that these chickens live a long and happy life. They aren't expected to do much more than eat bugs and worms, and lay an egg every now and then - and they live a natural life full of exercise and sunshine.

At night, the chapel glows

Now this is a positively enlightening experience. The Chicken Chapel in the glow of artificial light. Maybe it makes the chickens lay more eggs? Perhaps, but that isn't really the purpose - it's just another part of the Chicken Chapel experience.
