How I became a Chihuly fan
Several years ago my aunt started raving about this Chihuly guy. It turns out that I had walked by a piece of his glass art every day for years at the hospital I worked in. Then we were at a small local art museum that happened to have some small pieces for sale. Finally I was able to take in the installation at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Since then I have been hooked!
Being in the gardens was like being on a giant Easter Egg hunt because I never knew when I'd see another piece of glass mimicking the shape of the plants around it. Or feeling like I was undersea with the "jellyfish" plates overhead.
If you're in a metropolitan area it's likely that you've seen a Chihuly "chandelier" hanging somewhere and maybe walked by it without taking much notice. It's not just any old glass. It's true art, expensive and collectible.
