Guidelines for Selecting the Perfect Child Beauty Pageant Dress To Be a Winner

When your little Princess has been entered into a Child Beauty Pageant, you will want to do everything possible to help her become a winning contestant.

This means that you need to learn the principles of the ideal pageant dress for girls of her age, so that the dress meets the expectations of the pageant Judges, and hopefully wows them!

To get a fast lesson on what the latest child pageant dresses trends are you can take a look online at YouTube and pageant magazines.

If you decide to get a pageant dress made for your child, you are best off investing in a professional designer with experience in creating girls pageant dresses.

An experienced designer already knows the requirements for pageant gowns and they can even give you advice like what hairstyle, accessories and shoes would go best with the outfit.

Whether or not the dress is purchased or custom-made, the main aspects of the pageant dress to consider are: color, fabric and style.

You need to make sure that the color you select for the dress and accessories is one that complements your daughters complexion and hair color .

The fabric should be something that is comfortable to wear and should ideally be made from natural fabrics. Silk is good for an evening gown while simple pure cotton or linen would be suitable for day wear.

If your little girl will wear an evening outfit, then the pageant gown design for this segment of the beauty contest must be of floor length and professionally tailored to avoid wrinkles or puckers while she walks on stage.

Making Costumes for Child Beauty Pageants Is Simple With a Bit of Creativity!

If there is one favorite aspect of the contestants, as well as the audience of beauty pageants, it would be their costume.

During this event in a child's beauty pageant, the costume section is one of the most precious memories your little girl will have because she will be able to live her dream character.

If you are a parent whose little girl was chosen for a beauty pageant, choosing and making her costume will also be an equally exciting and touching gesture. If you are one of those parents who are trying to sew a costume either for a child who is chosen for a beauty contest, here are some tips for you to start with.

.
- Start with the sewing style that you are comfortable with

For starters, one of the most important things to consider is the type of sewing that he or she wishes to do. Usually, sewing is done using the hand alone because this gives personal touch and displays the sewer's talent in sewing.

- Determine what type of costume you will be sewing for your child.

This usually depend on the theme of the contest but if it's free-wheeling, you and your child can choose the "perfect costume". It is important to ask your child what he or she wants to wear.

The most common costumes for during beauty pageants for little girls include "Grecian Princess" which transforms the child to a pretty Grecian goddesses; the "Pirate Lass" the counterpart of Jack Sparrow costume; "Woodland Fairy" which is a safe yet amazing fantasy costume; and the "Can Can Dancer" which is fun and pretty to look at once worn by little girls.

- Make sure that you use safe fabrics.

After deciding what will you be sewing and the costume design, make sure that you will also put much attention to the type of fabric that you will be using.

The safest types of fabrics to be used for the costumes during beauty pageants for little girls should be made of cotton because this is hypoallergenic, strong, and easy to work on compared to other types of fabrics.

But, you may also opt for other synthetic fabric types for curtains and mates such as wool, silk, satin, and others depending on the type of clothes or items you will be sewing.

Types of Dresses Toddlers and Girls Wear in Child Beauty Pageants

The dress should be appropriate for the style and theme of the competition and for your child's age.

Some styles of dresses toddlers and girls wear in child beauty pageants include ones like this:

1. Glitzy dresses

2. Stoning embellishments dresses

3. Cinderella dress in white and pink colour

4. Satin dresses

5. Sequin foil dotted dresses

6. Fairy flower dress

When the competition is severe and you want your child to be in the perfect outfits on the stage, then considering pageant outfits for sale becomes a much better decision.

You can't create the hem lines, and perfect finish to the dress if you try to design the pageant dress by yourself. Perfection as well as cleanliness in the work is required to make it perfect.

Toddlers and girls are to be dressed up as per their age and theme of the competition thus spending a few bucks on it doesn't seem so awkward. Instead it seems better, as there are thousands of agencies providing pageant dresses for sale.

You can buy them online for very reasonable prices. Spending a bit more on the stoning of the pageant dress can add on some bling to the dress which can further help in making the dress look more beautiful and catch more attention from the judges.

You can also do the stoning of dresses yourself to save money. Study pictures of pageant dresses and get some idea of what designs work best for the dress you have bought, and just layout the stones in the pattern you want before you start to glue them in place onto the dress.

Check the Fitting of Your Pageant Dress.

As soon as your child beauty pageant dress is finished, or delivered to you, your girl should try it on to check that it's comfortable to wear and to also check if some alterations are required to it before the pageant.

Because this dress is definitely not an everyday outfit, your daughter may have to sacrifice comfort during the pageant, as how the dress looks and present on the stage is the ultimate priority for that portion of the competition.

But you cannot expect a child new to the pageant world to understand this, so do whatever you can to make sure that she is comfortable and confident in the gown, and leave the "no gain without pain" concept to the more experienced child beauty pageant contestants!

If you cant afford to buy a dress or gown and at the same time don't have money to make one, you can consider buying a second hand pageant dress. These gowns can often be found from sources provided by the pageant organisers if you ask them.

And if you are just 'testing the waters' of the pageant world, this can be an economical way to begin.

You can also be confident that expensive pageant dresses have usually only been worn a few times and have been kept in excellent condition, so she will still look absolutely wonderful in a second hand pageant gown.

Choose a child pageant dress wisely.

Girls under the age of ten or twelve should wear a short dress for glitz pageants.

A short glitz pageant dress should have a multi-layered cupcake skirt that falls to fingertip length. The dress should be stoned with several gross of Swarovski rhinestones.

Most people use a mixture of stones in different sized and colors. Some of the stones might be the same color as the dress, or they might be in the same shade as the dress. The majority of stones will be crystals or Aurora Borealis (AB) stones.

Be sure to select a dress that compliments you child's coloring. A good rule of thumb is white, pale turquoise, yellow, and bubble gum pink for girls with dark hair and skin.

Blondes usually look best in light blue and light fuchsia pink. Most redheads are limited to pastel mint green and royal blue.

Custom-made dresses usually do best in pageants. These dresses are made to fit your child perfectly, and they're one of a kind, so the judges aren't tired of seeing them.

Because these dresses are so expensive, you might want to give pageants a try before you spend the money on a custom-made pageant dress. After a pageant or two, you and your daughter might decide that pageants aren't for you.

For your first pageant, rent a dress. Many pageant people have a nice supply of rental dresses, and they'll usually help you select one that's a good match for your daughter.

If you find that pageants might be something you stick with, but you're not completely convinced yet, you might want to consider buying a used dress. These can often be found at pageants, on pageant message boards, and on Ebay.

Your child will need a few accessories to go with her dress for the beauty segment of the competition.

Once you have figured out the pageant dress that your little girl will wear on the big day, you can now begin to select the accessories you want to go with it.

Accessories are nice to have but remember this should not distract from what she is wearing.

Mostly you should be focusing on the Shoes, the socks, the petticoats, and if the dress needs a belt or choker to finish it off.

The choker is usually made of lace and is dyed to match the dress. It's then adorned with stones. Some girls prefer not to wear chokers with halter-dress styles.

She'll also need a bow for her hair. The bow usually matches the dress, and it needs to be stoned, too.

The hair bow might also be embellished with small flowers, butterflies, or marabou feathers, but you need to be careful not to make it too overpowering.

If the child is still in diapers, she'll need a diaper cover. This is a lacy pair of panties or similar undergarment that fits snugly over the diaper. The diaper cover is usually dyed to match the dress.

Your daughter also needs to wear pierced earrings on stage. These should be small and elegant - not big and gaudy.

Most of the younger contestants wear simple studs made of a single Swarovski stone. Please buy an extra pair and pack them in your pageant box!

Check out these Child Beauty Pageant Dress Bargains on eBay:

Often you can save yourself a fortune in pageant dresses and costumes by getting them second hand from eBay.

Since custom made gowns can cost thousands of dollars, when the girls outgrow them the parents will often list the costume or glitz gown for sale on eBay and you can grab a real online bargain if you keep monitoring the auctions.

More Expert Tips for Selecting Your Casual Wear, Swimwear, and Costumes

Casual wear is where you and your daughter can get funky!

Practically anything goes here, and for glitz pageants, the more imagination you use, the higher your score will be. Some great winning outfits have included headhunter, sailor girl, punk, Bratz doll, go-go dancer, biker wear, fifties poodle skirts, sixties retro wear, Vegas showgirl, cheerleader, and cowgirl.

Some great casual wear outfits don't have a specific theme. They might be a brightly colored tennis shirt with fringe or pom-pom balls, worn with a matching midriff top. They might also include bell bottoms and tops with layers of neon ruffles on the pants and sleeves.

In the swimwear competition, most little girls go barefoot. The swimsuit might be a one piece or a two piece. Most swimsuits seen in glitz pageants are adorned with ruffles, beads, fabric flowers, bows, lace, tulle, rhinestones, ribbons, or dangling trim.

Many girls wear a ruffled anklet dyed to match the swimsuit, along with a matching bow in their hair.

Costume wear is another fun category and somewhere you can get creative. Many pageants that offer this category have a specific theme, like Mardi Gras, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, Fourth of July, or Halloween.

Costumes should be in keeping with the overall theme. For example, for Fourth of July, a contestant might wear a Betsy Ross costume, and for Halloween, some of the little girls would likely dress as witches, black cats, or perhaps scarecrows.

For casual wear, swimwear, and costume wear, originality is very important to the judges. Music accompanies each girl's walk on stage, and each contestant usually chooses her own music and brings it to the pageant with her.

Well I am not totally sure.. I don't like little girls looking too sexy, that does not work for me. But!! I do think it is fine if they can still look like little girls and I appreciate their gaining poise from the experience.
