Comment on How to Teach Children to Wash their Hands

From the lens Teaching Children About Germs.

What have you done to teach a child how to wash their hands and keep their hands clean?

Isn't it amazing how something some simple could prevent illness! I had an ex-boyfriend who would go to the bathroom and do a #1 or #2. He would not wash his hands. I taught my children how serious this was, because I threw him out of my house! He loved to stick his hands in your face rubbing it. How nasty was he? (LOL don't mean to be mean, I'm just telling the truth!)

Great lens! A lot of good resources here for worried parents. The videos are great for showing to younger kids at school, maybe!

Useful lens. It is important that we know, specially our kids, how to wash hands properly.

The Glo Germ idea is useful, but I wonder how many little boys would think that its so cool, that they would deliberately get their hands ever more dirty for the fun of it :(
I love the SquidSoap with the removable Squid toy for Lensmasters - What a great find!

Absolutely love it! The UV germ idea is brilliant! I will be talking to my sons school about maybe doing a donation jar to supply this to the students!

I like to always make sure my kids wash their hands, especially when they come home from school. Really enjoyed this lens.

SquidSoap - now that's fun! The GloGerm detector is really cool. My grandkids do a pretty good job with handwashing and cough covering. They like to play in the sink so I let that be party of the handwash routine when they're at home.

We always teach with Glo Germ (fluorescent germ simulation). Kids and adults love to see the simulation germs on their hands and enjoy trying to get rid of them through hand washing. Great lens!

Wow impressed with the glo germ kit! Nice idea to teach my youngest 2 when they are old enough to understand.

I spend a lot of money on soap, because my little one loves washing her hands. (and a lot of other things...) I don't say too much, because I am happy she stays clean. Will show her this lens, she'll be happy.

Teaching kids requires a lot of trips to the bathroom, in which I insist on hand washing. I have seen the Squidsoap inkspot, but cannot seem to find where I can buy it.

Wash them for more than a few seconds, I believe it's a full 15 seconds.

It's good to teach our children about hygiene when they are young. When they start out right, it will benefit them for life.

My daughter is in Girl Guides and they actually talked and did a demonstration about hand washing where they used a special light to show the girls the germs on your hands even after you've washed them, if you haven't spent enough time doing so. I invite you to visit my lens about water filtration, a great way to go green!

Great article. It brought back memories when I was working in surgery and teaching interns how to scrub. Everyone should read this article and share it with someone else. I really like the squid soap too.

Very important subject! I have two boys who have OCD so they go from one extreme to another! It can be very frustrating!!! lol!!! The little one especially... one moment he has the worst hygiene and then we get on to him over it and then he is over doing the washing. *sigh* Great lens! Blessed by an Angel.

Shoot! There's adults that need to learn about germs. Neat squid soap. The hospital I went in last month had a soap dispenser out side of every room. Thanx

I love the inkspot on the top of the Squidsoap. It reminds me of the dye used to see if you brushed your teeth well enough. It sounds like lots of fun.

Thank you for joining Unit Studies: Fun, Active, and Creative Learning where we all wash our hands frequently.
