Raising Boys
Raising boys is very different from raising girls. Generally speaking, they think and function different. And there are some things that boys just do and girls don't- like pee standing up.
I love reading children's books, so I have compiled a list of boy-specific books. Now, I am very much a proponent of the fact that girls can do whatever boys can do (with a few exceptions... peeing standing up), and girls will enjoy these books too. But they are geared towards boys. One girl I take care of loves them because she has three little brothers, so she gets it. I hope you enjoy these books!
Oh, and these are not books about parenting boys. I'm not a parent, and I don't pretend to know what books are best for parents. But I know they are great for kids!

Boys and Waffles and Crazy
This might be my favorite boy book. It is certainly very true. This book explores what various items and situations would be like if common things were like boys. If waffles were like boys... If socks were like boys... When I first read it, I was staying with 3 boys, ages 4, 5, and 7. I'm pretty sure the books was written about them. They LOVE it! Their older sister couldn't agree more with the truths of the books.
For a while, I couldn't remember the name and kept saying, "If boys were like waffles." Then I realized that if boys were like waffles, they would sit still and be quiet, so they are nothing like waffles!
This is a great book for any family with lots of boys or a baby shower gift for a boy on the way!

Love for a Son
The bond between a mother and son is unique, just like that of a father and his daughter. John Carter Cash's book "Momma Loves Her Little Son" is a picture of how far a mother's love goes.
Standing Up!
This book made me giggle! A little boy is used to sitting down to pee, but then he sees a statue (Manneke Pis) of a boy peeing while he's standing up, and he decides to try it. It takes him some practice, but eventually he gets it down... or can stand on his own two feet and pee.
