Seems like there are more books about pets today than when I was a kid. This is great and helps kids learn to care for their pets and read at the same time. Thanks

I absolutely hate the book Don't Lick the Dog. If I was a child reading the book who had never been around dogs, I would probably be scared of them for life. The illustrations show dogs being mean and aggressive in several frames as well as looking just plain scary in most. May I Pet Your Dog is a much better choice for teaching children about dog safety. (It also introduces the correct way to interact around service dogs.)

Two of my my favorite unusual pet books are Peanut by Linas Alsenas and Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell.

I love the book Children Make Terrible Pets by Peter Brown. Not so much a nonfiction book, but very fun.

Nice lens but a bit short on content. Perhaps a couple of modules on what kind of pets kids can have and some personal experience would not go amiss,

The most important thing about getting a pet for your child is to research a lot before you get the pet. A cute kitten or bunny for Christmas often isn't quite so cute three months later. I live with and love seven rescued/abandoned bunnies, I bet seven people thought they were cute little pets once upon a time. Reading books is a great way to teach kids about being responsible pet owners.
