The Writer's and Illustrator's Workshop

Recently a poet friend, Charlotte Franck, and I took a workshop together through the Writers Center of Indiana.

The topic was children's poetry and illustration and it was conducted by Rebecca Dotlich, a national and very prolific writer, and Sharon Vargo, a national and very prolific illustrator. It was an honor just to be in the class with the two of them!!! However, they were so very helpful and encouraging, I wanted to collect their links and to share with others.

This page features the work of these two and also that of myself and others who are "kid friendly"!

My first step into the world of children's illustration

In case you are wondering why I attended this workshop with a friend...

Charlotte Franck, children's poet, and myself, Sheri Garvin, (Indiana artist) collaborated on our first book in 2006. After it was published in 2007 we started a business together called Squangles featuring Charlotte's poetry and my illustrations.

See our Squangles lens for more information on our collaborative efforts including children's furniture!
