Your Favorite China Piece is Broken...

what to do when disaster strikes...

1. First things first, if you still have the original packaging or at least the name of the china set, you can search your local department stores to see if they still carry your line of china

2. Start frequenting the local antique shops. Often times these places will carry discontinued pieces of china that they've acquired in their travels. Make sure you check back often because they get new things in everyday.

3. Check online. This may be the easiest option and will save you the most time. Try eDish, they have so many different types of replacement china, you're sure to find what you're looking for!

The Best Gifts

...Come From the Heart

Give what you have. To someone, it may
be better than you dare to think.
- Longfellow

Some of the best gifts you can give aren't those that come from an expensive boutique in Italy or from the shelves of outrageously priced stores on Park Avenue in New York City. The best gifts you can give require thought and creativity, but most of all they come from the heart.

1. The missing piece to your mother's precious china set. (Come on, you knew it would be first on the list- it's a china blog). So, her china set is now discontinued and she thinks it will never be complete again. Wrong. There are a myriad of websites offering replacement discontinued china pieces for reasonable prices. Just start looking!

2. Make a personalized book. Whether you pay for a company to compile the book into bound form, or you make it yourself, this book can hold pictures, memories, and stories that are sure to touch the heart of the recipient.

3. Nothing can beat a nice card and a bouquet of fresh picked flowers. No matter how cliche it sounds, this gift idea will never fail you.

4. One of the most creative ideas I've ever seen was done by a young girl for her boyfriend. She took a plain clock and put pictures of she and her boyfriend on each of the numbers. In the center of the clock it said, "I love you all the time".

5. Thoughtful coupon books will always be a winner. Whether the coupon promises a night out on the town, a back massage, or a homemade dinner, this gift is not only fun to make, but always a crowd pleaser.

6. A romantic dinner for two. This may take a little planning, but arrange for a time when you can prepare dinner and create a romantic environment to surprise the recipient.

They say...

"I was in tears after my little boy dropped a plate from my grandmother's china set. Thank goodness I was able to find a replacement online. Thank you eDish!"

"I've been looking for years for a piece to my china set that broke a few years ago. I finally found was able to find the exact piece I was looking for online at eDish"

"Honestly, eDish was an answer to my prayers! I found the dish I'd broken 20 years ago that had been discontinued. I was so worried I'd have an incomplete set the rest of my life, you can find anything on the internet these days."

Oh my gosh! This so happened to me!!!

... well tell us what you did?

Oh my gosh! I am so glad I found your EDish lens. I have a story to share about replacement china. This last Thanksgiving, I was at my mom's house having dinner. I thought it would be nice to pitch in with the clearing of the table. I decided to start with the china goblets. Lo and behold, I dropped one. I mean really! I went through my whole childhood without ruining one and when I return in my 20s, I drop it. My mom tried to put on a brave face and said it was fine. But I knew better. Growing up, she always talked about when she was living in Japan with my dad, she visited the Noritake discount warehouse and bought those ruby goblets for less than five dollars a piece--about 25 years ago. I decided to try to find a replacement online and came across Edish's site. I really didn't think I would find the right goblet, but I did! I emailed my mom about it and she was so excited. Now she has a full set again. Needless to say, I stick with clearing off the silverware at family get-together
