China Town Manchester is the largest Chinatown in the UK outside London. While the restaurants and supermarkets have turned Chinatown into a tourist destination, it is also a thriving business centre, with strong economic and cultural links to Mainland China and Hong Kong.

Tai Wu Restaurant

The Tai Wu restaurant on Oxford Road lies just outside the traditional China town boundary and a short stroll from the Midland Hotel yet it is one of the most popular restaurants in the area.

Upstairs at the main Tai Wu restaurant you will usually find throngs of local chinese residents queuing up for the traditional Yam Cha (lit. drink tea). If you plan to visit, get there early as it's extremely popular!

Downstairs, you will find a more western style 'all you can eat' chinese buffet. This is where you will find the spring rolls, duck pancakes, sweet & sour dishes that we are used to from the local chinese takeaway.
