Traveling to China?

Traveling in China is difficult. Cultural and language barriers aside, the environment is probably something you are completely unused to.

China Travel Tips
This is an article I wrote which gives some general guidelines (e.g.: where to take taxis) for travelers in China.

Fun Places To Go In China

Popular cities for tourism.

  • Qingdao. This is an actual 2008 Olympics site.
  • Changsha. There is a famous museum here which has Lady Dai's old corpse still preserved.
  • Zhangjiajie. This place is famous for it's gorgeous scenery.
  • Wuchang. The Wudan Mountain, a few hours from the main city, is where they filmed Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
  • Dalian. This place is one of the cleanest cities in China, and has a lot of foreign architecture (it was previously colonized).
  • Beijing. This is a no-brainer. Very foreigner-friendly and full of culture.
  • Shanghai. Richest and most glitzy city in China.

What was my first impression of China?

The culture shock is ridiculous. Seriously.

After getting off the plane, you're in a totally different world. The people look different, dress different, act different... The food is totally different as well (except for fast food, I suppose), and the pace of everyone in China is just a whole 'nother animal.

I spent 2 weeks pondering how rude people were, how dirty the streets were (my shoes got dusty so quickly!), and how many cars and people there were. But you get used to it.
