Meet Miss Daisy!
Oh! Hi! I didn't realize I had guests. I'm Miss Daisy, a lovable little Champagne colored Chinchilla. My mom lost her last Chinchilla, a sweet black velvet girl named Chloe, about 12 years ago and really missed having a personality plus fur ball scurrying around. So, she started calling around and emailing people who had Chinchillas and discovered that I was looking for a home and a family just as hard as she was looking for a Chinchilla to love.
Why Miss Daisy?
How This Chinchilla Got Her Name
Mom decided my name before she even saw me. "Muffin," she said. "Won't Muffin be the cutest name for a Chinchilla?" The whole way to get me and the whole time she was waiting to see me, she was still positive my name would be Muffin. Then she saw me and said, "Oh! You're not a Muffin at all, are you?" She looked into my eyes and then said, "Daisy!" I'm sure glad she realized the truth. I was meant to be a Daisy, and not just any Daisy. Nope, I'm Miss Daisy.
Feeding Miss Daisy
Oh, man. That was corny, wasn't it? Mom says Driving Miss Daisy was a good movie, though. Anyway, on to other stuff. I have a bag of the food I was eating before so I can gradually change my diet, but the old food has an additive that isn't good for me. Mom found a care sheet from Small Angels Rescue that recommended Oxbow Chinchilla Deluxe and ordered it right away. She says that when it comes, she'll add it to my old food until I am used to it and then I can switch completely to Oxbow.
Chinchilla Dust Baths Are So Fun to Watch
I'm feeling a bit self conscious right now so I'm not about to take a dust bath so mom can post my bathtime photos all over the internet! Trust me, though. A Chinchilla taking a dust bath is going to be the cutest sight you ever see. Maybe in a few days, I'll let her snap a photo or two to share with you so you can see how cute it is.
Of course, dust baths do involve a certain amount of...dust. Mom says that in the old days back before I was born, they didn't have all these cute Chinchilla bath houses to contain the mess. She said there was dust EVERYWHERE after a Chinchilla hopped back out of the bath, which was usually a cake pan of some kind. She hopes that the bath house will keep down the dust some.

A few of Miss Daisy's favorite things
Sweet as a Marshmallow
Chinchillas have individual personalities just like any living thing, but most of them are pretty darn sweet. They're not snugglers, though, so don't expect to sit around holding me if you visit!

Miss Daisy checks out her new Chinchilla hut. There are cuter models out there, but this one is purple. A little girl who is very excited about having Miss Daisy as a new friend LOVES purple.
No Exercise Balls for Me, Please
Chinchilla Wheels Are Much Safer
I was glad to see that Mom didn't buy me one of those exercise balls for Chinchillas. They aren't much fun since I can't use my paws to explore when I'm inside and I'm afraid I would run too fast inside of the ball and hurt myself banging into stuff. An exercise wheel designed for Chinchillas is probably safer and still a ton of fun.

What Is Going On?
There was quite a commotion today. I was really curious to see what was going on. Mom says I'll have to wait a bit to see what's going on, but she thinks I'll be pretty happy with some company, even though it will be in the next cage since they're boys. Company? Boys? What is she talking about?Oh, if I could just stand a bit higher on my tippie toes...Aw, man. I'm not the only child any more? I'm going to go throw a tantrum...
Man. I had no idea I could just rip the roof off my Snak Shak like that. And mom says she didn't realize chins could vocalize that much. Now that my tantrum's over, I have to admit I'm a bit interested in the goings on next door...

- Miss Daisy is an adorable Chinchilla! I have loved them ever since I saw my first one in a pet store, but I've never actually owned one. Maybe some day...
