Chinese Symbols for Words: How To Get The Tattoo You Want
Getting a translation for Chinese symbols for words is just so easy nowadays. Any words - any phrases.
But before you race off and get your tattoo, consider, do you really know what those beautiful symbols mean?
Maybe it is just TOO easy to get Chinese symbols tattooed upon your body.
Lower down you'll find a link to the translation site I use but please do read the warnings first before you race off and get your Chinese symbols translation.
Tattoo translation dangers you need to know about
I know you're in a hurry for that translation but this will only take a moment!
Is that really want you want? You're looking for something beautiful and full of meaning and you get it done by a soulless, senseless computer.
You need a person trained in the art of translating English ideas into a Chinese symbol that means what you want it to mean.
You need a person who will give you a choice of calligraphic style, who is interested in what area of the body the tattoo needs to go on (so important and often ignored), who bothers to ask what sex the person wearing the tattoo is.
I found a translation service that I could trust.
What's the point of using a free service if the translation is botched and you have to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars to have the tattoo removed.
Once you have made your choice as to the word that you want, get the translation of that word or phrase into Chinese symbols done by an expert.
Please - at the very least ensure it is done by a person and not computer software. Please - just for me, huh.
If you've ever had a web page translated then you know what a shamozzle those soft ware programs make of language. Sure - you get the gist of what the web page is about - but we're talking here about something that you want to live with for the rest of your life.
Chinese character writing is an ancient art form. Respect it. Respect your own body.

Tattoo Words And Phrases
Maybe one of these ancient Chinese sayings is the right tattoo for you
A gem is not polished without rubbing, nor a man made perfect without trials.
If you always give, you will always have.
If you bow at all, bow low.
The rose has thorns only for those who would gather it.
There are many paths to the top of the mountain, but the view is always the same.
David Beckham's Chinese Symbols
The words of David Beckham's Chinese symbol tattoo come from an ancient Chinese proverb. The translation of this Chinese proverb is "Death and life have determined appointments. Riches and honor depend upon heaven."
As with most Chinese proverbs this has layer upon layer of meaning.
Interestingly, one experienced translator said that the David Beckham "Death and Life" tattoo is the only Chinese symbol tattoo on a Westerner that she liked.
And this is what can make getting a translation of Chinese symbols so defining. You can end up with something so profound you could live your life by it.
OR
Chinese symbols for words that you DON'T want!
Or - you could end up with one of these. These are just some of the phrases that so-called tattoo artists have placed upon unsuspecting people.
Yes - each of these phrases has been tattooed upon someone.
Make sure that you're not the next victim of someone's perverted sense of humor.

- I had the misfortune of going to a tattoo artist who didnt speak much English. I stupidly figured that since he spoke Chinese and not english that he would translate for me correctly. the problem was he didnt understand the english meaning of what i wanted. So long story short...My hawaiian name in English means "heavenly strength". I wanted that tattooed in Chinese on my arm. he didnt understand the meaning of heavenly strength since he didnt speak much english. i wrote the words down and he plugged them into a pocket translator. After getting the tatto i asked him what the translation was in English, and to my surprise my tattoo didnt translate to "Heavenly Strength." Instead it says "Super Power". Not the worst thing in the world to have on your arm...but not what i wanted either.

- The symbols of Asian languages have always fascinated me. The beauty can be destroyed if a tattoo has undesirable or offensive meaning. Good advice and lovely lens.

- When I went to Japan some of the kids were wearing T-shirts with English words on them that were pretty funny. They had no idea what it said. So, I guess it works both ways. :)
But I didn't see anyone putting on English tatoos..... 5 *'s!

- The intricacies of Asian symbols has always been the bane of my Korean existence. Heck, I only know how to write my own name in Korean let alone any other language. I find our calligraphy to be beautiful and complex but the strokes defy my abilities. Fantastic lens.

- Thanks for stopping by. Yes, a tattoo stops being cool once you realize that you're labeled for life with something silly or obscene! I love Chinese symbol tattoos but I do wish people would take a little more care.

- Excellent advice. I've heard a lot of stories about people getting Chinese characters tattooed on themselves with knowing exactly what these symbols mean. That's just short-sighted, and seems like someone looking for the next "cool tattoo" rather than discovering what the actual meaning being conveyed by the symbol that is permanently etched on their skin.
