2012 is the Year of the Dragon

The year of the rabbit is coming to an end and China, and other Asian countries, are getting ready to usher in the year of the Dragon! This will be an exciting year since the dragon is an imaginary animal, unlike the other eleven animals. For the next 12 months, of the Chinese lunar year (which starts on January 23, 2012) every baby born will be under the sign of the dragon. This is causing quite a stir and many couples are chosing this year as the year in which to have their baby.

Read on to learn about each animal, the years in which they will be the animal of the year and find cool books and products related to them.

Chinese Baby Boom

On the Beijing news they reported that 180,000 babies are expected to be born in Shang Hai during the coming year. Couples have been waiting for several years, just so that their precious one and only child can be a dragon. I don't quite get the fuss, and it's kind of funny that I'm going to be having a baby in this year of the dragon (and that my son was born during the great year of the Olympics-2008). It was only a month ago that I even checked to see what zodiac it would fall under.
