Both the Hairless and Powderpuff Cresteds require special grooming, but devotees of the Crested believe that it's time wonderfully spent!
The AKC Standard for the Crested description: "A toy dog, fine-boned, elegant and graceful. The distinct varieties are born in the same litter. The Hairless with hair only on the head, tail and feet and the Powderpuff, completely covered with hair. The breed serves as a loving companion, playful and entertaining. "

- We usually recommend harnesses for small dogs because they are prone to problems with "collapsing trachea." The very soft harnesses I've shown on this page aren't quite as crucial for a Powderpuff as they would be for a hairless.
