Have You Heard Of Chip Taylor? You've Heard His Songs, For Sure...
"Wild Thing", "Angel of the Morning", "He Sits at My Table", "Papa Come Quick", "Country Girl, City Man", "Sweet Dream Woman", "I Can't Wait Until I See My Baby's Face" - the list of Chip Taylor songs goes on and on. "Wild Thing" alone has been recorded over 400 times, by popular artists like Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Manfred Mann, the Kingsmen, the Muppets, and, of course, the Troggs.
Over 40 years ago - in my amateur band in Munich, Germany - we churned out "Wild Thing" - singing phonetically. Our knowledge of the English language was still quite limited. But we adored the music and so we played anyway. Mostly in officer's clubs at American military bases. Nobody cared about our lyrics - everyone had a good time.
Chip Taylor songs provide for a good time or they invite for more introspective listening. Don't be fooled, though - his strong progressive voice might catch you by surprise. This man has seen the world with open eyes, and he is not too shy to tell it like it is - from his collective 68-year-old wisdom...

Why I Admire Chip Taylor...
...looking beyond fame and glory.
Photo by 6tee-zevenI simply admire people who have achieved enormous creative and commercial success, yet they keep sharing their art and their insights without resting on their laurels.
"Celebrities" have responsibilities toward the society that created them. They tend to become "gurus" for their fans. Chip Taylor accepts these duties by telling the truth, as he understands it.
From his new album "New Songs of Freedom" - a text excerpt from the title "Dance With a Hole In Your Shoe":
Hate everybody that's not like you
And they can come back and hate you too
And everybody can hate somebody
Negate somebody - berate somebody
Take somebody and shake somebody
And dance with a hole in your shoe
If the sea is still green and the sky is still blue
You can dance with a hole in your shoe.

- My dear friend Achim... I know everyone on squidoo thinks I am AWOL, but my old computer decided to test my patience by speeding along at 5 mph in the 70 mph lane. It's been acting up for almost a month, so I finally pushed it in front of the bulldozer! I just got my new computer and this is the 1st message from the keyboard. I have been a Chip Taylor fan for years, but had no idea of the Voight connection. You are indeed a musical connisseur, in addition to being a culinary connisseur. Thanks for your visit... it's always my great honor to see your smiling face and comments on my lenses.

- Just found another band that has recorded "Sorry" - Buckcherry. You asked who recorded the song. You didn't specify a time frame for the recording. And you changed the title to "Sorrow" in your reply. I'm not quite clear about what exactly you'd like to know. :)

The song named 'sorrow' wrote by chip taylor and al gorgoni around 1967. You said, madonna.
In 1967? I don't think so.
