Remember Chivalry?

So to some this may seem like a stupid question, but to others they may say "Whats Chivalry?" Well, this lens is designed to remind all of us that although things may not need to be the way they were 50 years ago, manners and politeness still go a long way.

Is Chivalry Dead?

Chivalry dead or alive?

This seems to be a question that comes up on a regular basis.
Is Chivalry Dead?
How many people have asked themselves that same question?
Chivalry: It is usually associated with ideals of knightly virtues, honor and courtly love. Today, the terms chivalry and chivalrous are used to describe courteous behavior, especially that of men towards women.
I am going to give my opinion and then I am open to the opinions and or experiences of others.

Lisa thinks: Chivalry is dying, but not yet fully dead. I think that many parents have been forgetting to instill certain values in their children. Since it is now more common than not to have both parents working, kids learn a lot through school and day cares. Bottom line, you should care more for your kids than anyone else, and you as a parent are responsible for teaching them manners and respect. I am a woman and I am very respectful and have no problem holding the doors and giving others the right of way. This is something that was instilled in my when I was younger and have always practiced.
I also feel as though some women have decided to give men a hard time if hey hold a door, thinking it means the man is degrading them. They take is as a man feeling superior. I don't agree entirely with this. I think that it should be viewed as respect and courtesy. I really wish it was more common for people in general, not just men to practice Chivalry.

Amen! Chivalry is really just respect for others in action and you are so correct that we as a society are in danger of completely losing common courtesy. Wonderful lens. 5*

I think it's all about considering others instead of just yourself. Unfortunately, that isn't taught very well anymore. 5 *'s
