All About Cho Ku Rei

The Reiki Symbols are used by Reiki Practitioners during a Reiki session. Each symbol has a specific purpose and they can also be combined and used together sequentially.
The symbols are ancient icons, the same as modern icons placed on a computer desk top. Embedded within each icon is a code telling the computer what program to bring up should the icon be used. In a similar manner, when the Reiki Practitioner uses a Reiki symbol, coding embedded within the symbol tell the Reiki what it needs to do.

Three Symbols are used by most Reiki Practitioners.

The first of the three is the Cho Ku Rei.

Reiki Symbols: Does Sacred Mean Secret?

Sacred: To make holy

There are those who practice Reiki who believe firmly that the Reiki Symbols are Sacred and as such should forever remain secret from the non-initiated. Others are of the opinion that the symbols should be made freely available to all people, regardless.

What do you think?

Should the Reiki Symbols be shared with non-initiated?

No, and I am offended that you shared them here

CarrieReikiMo says:

I am not offended you shared them here. So, my answer is two parts...I don't think it matters if non-initiated or people who have not been attuned are shown the symbols. The way I was taught we all have energy healing capabilities, and Reiki magnifies them only if your attuned. I am, however, disappointed at how commercialized it has become...symbols on coffee cups, paperweights, etc...I find that somewhat degrading to the healing art. I also have problems with instant Reiki attunements via internet or video. I think it's too generic to do it that way. That's just my opinion though.

Of course they should be shared. I am glad you are sharing them here.

Yes

Derek Trestain says:

These symbols are a gift from the divine truth, they should be shared by all.

Lorelai says:

The more we make them available to initiates to acquaint themselves with them, the better, I believe. Potential practitioners can then see if the symbols' power resonates with them, thus the more practitioners we will see come into Being. Those who feel resonance with the symbols will be drawn to practice, which is good for ALL humanity. Those who do not feel a resonance will move on and forget.

GreenfireWiseWoman says:

If we want to make a difference in the world then we should share the symbols.

Nelnel says:

If we are all one, we should all have access to the information to assist or ascension into our higher selves.

Using the Cho Ku Rei

Healing and Cleansing

The Cho Ku Rei gives a power boost to the Reiki when it is used. As the Power Symbol it gives a greater power and focus to the Reiki.

Use the CKR before and after using any other Reiki Symbol to empower it.

As the Cleansing Symbol the CKR can be used to remove negative or stagnating energy during a Reiki healing session. Likewise it can be used to cleanse a physical space. Mentally draw the Cho Ku Rei on the walls of a room to cleanse the room of negative energies. Or draw them in the air around a physical space to help cleanse the area.

When using the Cho Ku Rei for balancing I will draw two Cho Ku Rei, facing each other as in the image pictured above. Draw the image on either side of a person to help bring their physical, spiritual, emotional, or mental body into balance.
