Recipes for every chocolate taste

Do you love chocolate? Or do you loooove chocolate? If so then this cookbook is for you. It's our family's ultimate favorite dessert cookbook. Read on for pictures, excerpts, and our favorite recipe.

Best Gift Ever

My mother-in-law gave this recipe book to my wife for her bridal shower and we have enjoyed it ever since. The author is an award winning food journalist, and the photographer is an award winner as well. Put the two together and you get much more than your Grandma's cookbook. The pictures alone are worth it!

Even if you don't want the recipes, the pictures alone make this book a great addition to the coffee table!

Very Brief Table of Contents

A few of the chocolate categories

  • Brownie Style
  • Back-to-basics Chocolate Cakes
  • Black Bottom Cupcakes
  • Chips and Chunks
  • Chocolate and Toffee
  • Flourless Chocolate Cakes
  • And tons more

My Favorite Cake

I promised to tell you about my favorite recipe in the book. Its called "My Mother's Buttermilk Chocolate Cake" with "Rich Chocolate Frosting". The funny thing is, even though the cake is phenomenal, it's the frosting that makes this cake a home run for me.

When you first make the frosting, its soft and smooth, but by day two it has stiffened into fudge. So my wife layers on the frosting until its about as thick as the cake itself. We get two desserts in one!

Another Essential Cookbook by Lisa Yockelson

Baking by Flavor

In this great cookbook Lisa explains how ingredients like chocolate, caramel, or lemon drive the flavors of dishes, and she shows how to highlight and accentuate these flavors.

The Ultimate Chocolate Cookbook

I forgot to mention that at the beginning of the book there is a guide to cooking with chocolate. Lisa makes sure that you are well prepared for her masterpieces. Plus, it's good to know how to cook with chocolate since she tries to avoid cocoa powder and focuses on using the real stuff (chocolate).

At 495 pages, if you cooked a new recipe every day, there are more than enough to make sure you don't get bored of repeats!
