Meet Rascal and his Favorite Toys!

My 3 year old Chocolate Labrador, Rascal, may be forever a puppy. I believe Labrador Retrievers are like Peter Pan that they refuse to grow up. I've heard they settle down a little after 2 years, 3 years, 4 years, or even, that they never-never grow up.

Rascal is exuberant in his greetings, whether family, friends or strangers. This is one dog who enjoys all that his doggy life offers.

This lens (page) is a review of his favorite products and toys. To be honest, this lab likes to play or chew on anything, but these products last much, much longer.
On that note...
The Frisbee in the picture did not survive and does not make the cut for this power-chewer. It was destroyed within a few hours, even with teeny tiny puppy teeth.

Rascal's all-around Favorite: Kong Treat Balls

The 2 largest sizes are what Rascal uses.

Kong Treats

KONG Snacks are made with high-quality natural ingredients.

Please Note: Run out of Kong Stuffing treats? In a pinch, I've used real peanut butter, but it's not quite as easy to put peanut butter into the ball.
I've also included a new product that comes in a can like whipped cream or Cheeze-Wiz. How cool is that? :

Rascal and his antics...

Despite his size and that deceiving yawn, Rascal is planning to get that toy... and SOON!This dog loves to chew, sleep on our feet or ankles, an has been known to grab the grandchildren's toys because a few of them look like his. Or... he just likes the attention of trying to get the toys back from him.

Now, don't get me wrong. Even when he knows he's done something he shouldn't, that tail keeps wagging like he's perpetually happy. And, yes he is, even when caught in the act. Although I stand firm, I hoping he doesn't realize I'm close to breaking out in a smile.

Time to try Plush toys for Dogs? With supervision, of course.

Maybe then Rascal with leave the kids toys alone... I hope

We have many, many stuffed animals missing ears, tails, antennae, and more. This review below is making me consider letting Rascal have one of his own. Maybe. I'll be watching...

Amazon Customer Review:
"Similar to my other reviews I want to note that if your dog tears up plush toys this isn't for you. It's not a super tough toy in that regard. But it is one of my dogs absolute favorites!!! It has squeakers all along it's body! My dog always just chews on the squeaker and chews on the squeaker until it doesn't squeak anymore. In this case, there are SO many squeakers if one dies from playing there is still plenty of squeak options left! It's also big and floppy. The body lays pretty flat like a towel so my dog just whips his head around and plays with it like he's tearing it up then he goes back to squeaking it. It's pretty funny watching him flip it around. It has withstood some light tugging action between my two dogs, but nothing to rough. I highly recommend this toy!"

No Dog Toy in completely Indestructible!

Dog owners should always supervise their dog's chewing and play time.
This advise is especially important with power chewers like Rascal.

Rascal's favorite Kong toy for a game of Catch

Kong is one brand name I've come to count on as nearly indestructible...

... however, this toy is NOT indestructible, but works great for a game of catch and fetch. The sound and visual of the ball with attached streamers certainly keeps Rascal's attention for quite a while.

(Please note: The ratings should be a lot higher, but many of the Amazon customer reviewers thought this is a chew toy.)

I love Chocolate Labs. You don't see too many of them around where I live. Beautiful lens.

Ah, Rascal is so cute. We have had numerous Labs of all colors grace our Center and everyone is just as happy and wonderful as can be. But, one actually did sort of grow up. He became Uncle to a collection of young puppies, but he was adopted before he could see them grow up.
