Homemade Belgian Chocolate Pie Recipe and Directions

How to make this tasteful cake using Belgian chocolate

Must Use Dark Belgian Chocolate!

Cote d'Or is the best Belgian chocolate you'll find on the market

Cote d'Or Dark Belgian Chocolate (70%) is the ideal dark chocolate to be used for making this Belgian chocolate pie recipe - by the way, it is the chocolate I use myself to make such a tart. Cote d'Or prepares chocolate using cocoa butter; which provides chocolate with one of a kind strong African chocolate taste! In addition it isn't as expensive as other imported chocolates. Give a try to Cote d'Or dark Belgian chocolate, I promise, you won't be disappointed!

Once the Belgian Chocolate Pie Has Cool Down

What to do next with your chocolate cake?

Once the Belgian chocolate pie has cool down, sprinkle some icing sugar on it and serve on a lovely cake plate.

You can decorate your Belgian chocolate pie with icing or frosting like any other cake. My favorite type of decoration is a coat of sweet chantilly; which is tasteful, fresh and, of course, lighter than icing and frosting.

Make sure to use dark Belgian chocolate as well as butter to prepare this recipe. In addition, make sure that the type of Belgian chocolate you're using is made out of cocoa butter and not margarine. Another reason for choosing a Belgian chocolate as dark as possible is that milk chocolate doesn't provide the pie with a great taste. On the other hand, margarine definitely doesn't work with the recipe.

Best Belgian Chocolate Pie Baking Tool!

Use a non stick pie pan if you don't want the pie to stick to the mold!

Make sure to have a non stick tart pan on hand when you prepare this Belgian chocolate pie recipe; a pie that is easily removable from the mold enables you to present a perfect dessert to your guests or to the kids who attend your child's birthday party.

Although a non stick pan isn't supposed to stick to foods, the Belgian chocolate pie includes a great amount of sugar, therefore, I recommend to add a tiny coat of butter and flour before pouring the mixture into the mold; this will make sure the Belgian chocolate pie doesn't stick to the mold.

If you choose to use a pie pan which bottom is removable, then, I recommend using wax or parchment paper before pouring the batter into the mold.

Turn this Belgian Chocolate Pie into Themed Cupcakes

Simple pie recipe can make outstanding Belgian chocolate cupcakes to serve at your parties

homemade chocolate pie recipe

Cupcakes are among the most popular types of cakes to serve at parties and you might want to turn this Belgian chocolate pie recipe into cupcakes. This is doable, of course. However, remember that, since we didn't add baking powder to the Belgian chocolate pie mixture, the mini pies won't be as big as cupcakes.

As explained in an article I published about pirate cake and cupcake ideas, you can prepare the Belgian chocolate pie recipe in the same way as the normal one but instead of pouring the mixture in a tart mold, you're going to use cupcake molds. Because of the sugar level of the recipe, I recommend to spread a tiny coat of butter and flour on the mold before pouring the chocolate based mixture; this will help the cupcakes not to sick to the mold.

Naturally, you can also pour the Belgian chocolate batter into themed cupcake molds such as flowers, eggs, hearts, Mickey Mouse molds, etc. Then you'll decorate the mini chocolate pies in the same way as you decorate standard cupcakes. However, and, once again because the Belgian chocolate pie is quite heavy, I recommend to put a tiny coat of icing or frosting when you decorate them, more particularly if you pay attention to your kids waistline.

Make Mini Belgian Chocolate Pies Using a Non Stick Cupcake Pan

12-cup silicone muffin pan

In order to not have the Belgian chocolate cake or cupcakes sticking on the mold, I always use a non stick pan. However, if I want to prepare cupcakes out of this chocolate pie recipe, I like to use a non stick mold made out of silicon as it allows me to really easily remove the cupcakes from the molds.

Therefore, whenever you plan to use the Belgian chocolate pie recipe above to prepare cupcakes, I highly recommend to use a silicone cupcake pan. Once the mini chocolate pies have cool down, just decorate them with icing, frosting or simply pick a themed cupcake ornament on the center of each pie.
