Wedding Cakes and Wedding Flowers

They are the two things that put the icing on the cake (if you'll excuse the pun!) - the flowers and the cake itself. Without them, you're going to have a fairly bland wedding. Both the flowers and the cake must reflect your theme or something will feel off.

How To Choose Cakes And Flowers For Your Wedding Day

As if choosing your wedding venue and dress wasn't bad enough, now you have to find someone to make your wedding cake and to do your wedding flowers. The wedding planning "to do" list never seems to end and you are starting to really stress out about this wedding! Well never fear because we are here to give you a helping hand and to point you in the right direction when it comes to cakes and flowers.

OK so if you are panicking about choosing your wedding cake or flowers then I'm not surprised! With all that money going into something that's only going to last a few hours, I would be worried about it too. Luckily there are a few handy tips to have on your side when picking these out. We will discuss the flowers first as they are one of the few things regarding a wedding that you don't have to order years in advance (although it would help if you want to choose out of season flowers). When choosing your flowers you should have a few things in mind. How many do you need? If you are doing just the bouquet and the button holes then you won't have much to choose. But if you are going to decorate the venue with flowers from the ceremony to the reception (including table decorations) then you will need to spend some time choosing the individual displays.

You should choose colors that suit your wedding color scheme and even your wedding theme too. If you are having a winter wonderland theme then tulips won't be a good match. Listen to your florist as they will have been specifically trained to put flower arrangements together and will therefore know what suits which flower. If you are on a tight budget then ask then to bulk out the arrangements with lots of foliage.

Now onto the wedding cake. Now this you will have to order well in advance. It is becoming more and more popular to have sponge for our wedding cake instead of the traditional fruit but if you do want to opt for a fruit cake them we suggest ordering at least 6 months in advance. This will give the cake maker time to make the cake and allow it to mature as well. When it comes to the style of the cake, it should fit in with your wedding theme but doesn't HAVE to fit in with the color scheme. Some couples like to have their wedding bouquet flowers on the cake (sugared of course) but you can go as unique as you like with your wedding cake.

To choose the perfect wedding cake you should do some research. Take a look on line at all the amazing wedding cakes that are available and then narrow down your decisions. If you want something truly unique then why not go for a stack of cupcakes? These are easier to hand out, look amazing and each one can be individually decorated. Good luck in finding the right wedding cake for your big day.
