Some Tips on How to Choose and what to do.....

Are you looking for a home based business that you
can do from the comfort of your computer chair.

I must warn you that it is a jungle out there but I have a few suggestion for you.

Let us look at the past before we look at the future.

Do you like stories? Well, I am going to tell you one now, and let's see how familiar it sounds.

Once upon a time there was a "person" .......

This person, let's call him Jon for now, used to go to a place called "work" every day like clockwork. Jon had to go to "work" every day because he needed money. Everyday at the crack of dawn Jon had to got up, get dressed and go to "work". "Work" was a place where there were deadlines to meet, responsibilities way too much for the little bit of money he was getting in return, bosses always breathing down his neck, never satisfied with his blood sweat and tears....a place he hated - sound familiar yet?

One day the boss called Jon in to his office, and told him that he is very sorry, but they are downsizing, and there was no more "work" for Jon. He received 3 months severance pay, but his services were terminated immediately.

Jon went from "work" to "work" until he was tired of trying to find a lasting job. He wanted more - he wanted something that he would enjoy. No more bosses, no more having more work than he could manage - no more doing what he hated, just to earn a few dime. He wanted to do what he ENJOYED. He knew that it must be possible!!

AH, he can do that on the internet. He has often heard that people make lots of money on the internet and if they can, he can too.

THE BIG HUNT
Jon started by signing up for a lot of programs. He started of by paying for programs, "knowing" that he was going to make his money back, and more, soon.....after all it has a money back guarantee!! What they didn't tell him is that he had to learn a lot of new things, and still work hard to be successful.

When his money ran out, he started signing up for every free program he found.

INSTANT RICHES ON THE INTERNET
By now he was sitting at his computer 16 hours a day, just trying to work through everything he was a member of..... trying to understand how each one worked, and what he had to do.

At the end of each 16 hour day, he crawled into bed exhausted and still no where near understanding what he has to do, and even further from earning the BIG BUCKS everyone promised him. He was as miserable as ever - if not more because now he is not even getting paid for his 16hr day!!

Is he any better off than when he had to go to "work" and slog and slave for a boss? I think not!! He still had a boss- this time it was his computer!!

Many people sign up for every free program they see and think "AHH another place that doesn't cost anything AND I can make money. The more of these places I can sign up for, the faster I will become rich"

Be careful - be VERY careful. I also did that, and so did many, many before me. Learn from those who have been there...

IT DOES NOT WORK!!

THE RIGHT WAY TO START


The first rule of thumb is NOT TO WANT TO MAKE MONEY!! Your first priority is to find something that you enjoy doing, and a way to monetize THAT.

There is only one way to make money on the internet, and that is to find YOUR PASSION, and FOCUS ON THAT. Once you know what your passion is - what you believe in and can ENJOY doing - the battle is half won.

LEARN TO BE PATIENT - IT TAKES TIME!!

Another mistake that you must not make is to think that you will achieve overnight success. You need to work systematically.

Once you know what to focus on and how you can monetize it, you need to build a list of subscribers who will be responsive when you send them your offers. The best way to do that is to build a good relationship with your subscribers to learn what they are interested in.

Networking is an ideal way of building a relationship. When you network with people, you get to know them and you can determine what their interests and needs are, while at the same time, they get to know and trust you.

You can join different networking programs, and another way that I have found very successful is a Skype Room. Because Skype rooms have many people from different time zones in and everyone can read all the text instantly, you will find members in these rooms much more responsive, 24/7.

HOW TO FIND YOUR PASSION

There are different options to consider on your path to finding your passion.

• You may be an excellent sales person who loves selling. Then you must consider doing that on the internet. Do you have a physical product you can sell - like jewelry, DVD's, Clothing etc. If that is what you want to do, you must consider delivery options. You will have to target your promotions at people located in an area that will be easy to deliver your product to.

As an alternative, you could find an existing Website that offers products to sell that you can become an affiliate of. Many of these programs offer a free delivery service in the country that they operate in. Joining such a program also means that you don't have to be bothered with inventory and mailing.

• If you are a good writer with a subject you know very well, you could consider writing eBooks to sell online. This is very easy to deliver electronically. You would have to do a lot of research on any subject you want to write about, making sure that there is a market for it, and that the market is not saturated with the same information already.

• Some people are good Personal Assistants, but they need to work flexi hours, which they cannot do if they have a fixed 9-5 position. Becoming a Virtual Assistant could be the answer they are looking for. A virtual assistant can normally work at times that suit their personal schedule. There are several Websites that offer VA work, or you could do your own advertising.
  

• If you join an affiliate program, you get paid commission for selling a product or memberships. The more people you get to become members of that program, the more commission you will receive. This can be quite a good source of income, but you also have to do a lot of advertising. Unless you know what you are doing, advertising can be a huge expense and very time consuming. You could join more than one affiliate program, but it is best to first get one completely set up and work on it until it is running smoothly before attempting the next membership.....remember FOCUS is the secret and you should always focus on one thing at a time. You need to focus on one thing, master this and then move on to the next.

• Are you a good coach or teacher? You could have the knowledge to do something really well. This does not have to be an internet or even computer skill. Take a simple example - you may be an expert in the kitchen and you can pass on to people all the tricks that could make them great too - You could write a series - Be an ace Cook, How to make sure your chutneys and pickles are the best, Flop-proof cakes..... catch my drift?

• Do you have something that you can do offline, but you need more exposure. Promote this on the internet by creating a blog or Website. A blog is much easier to do if you don't have experience in Web design. In a blog you can describe whatever your business is, and you can keep adding posts to it as your business grows. It is also very easy to edit a blog when information changes. Your blog can be as long or as short as you need it to be, and there are places you can get free blogging accounts, as long as you don't have a lot of affiliate links on them. You can promote your link on the internet, but you must be sure to use very targeted advertising. You can print business cards with your blog link on and distribute these in shopping malls, at markets, place them in your doctor's and dentist's consulting rooms - anywhere that a lot of people can see them. You can even target specific people, for example, if you are offering a plumbing service, ask your hardware store if you can leave some cards with them. You could offer them a small commission if they could get you some business. Very important!! Always have a, opt-in form on your blog or website. This will give visitors the opportunity to leave their names and contact details, This will build you a list of people you can always contact with more information and new or special offers.

KEEP IT SIMPLE
Remember now...Your first income stream should be something that is simple and easy for you to work.
Don't complicate it... keep it simple and focus, focus, focus on one thing and work at it until it is profitable.
