How To Choose An Ebook GhostWriter

Ranked #28,470 in Business & Work, #420,079 overall

Don't wait until you get a bad book written (or it doesn't get done at all!) Choose wisely from the outset

Hello, I'm Julie-Ann Amos, and I run Exquisite Writing, an international copywriting agency based in the UK. This lens provides information on how to choose an ebook writer.

Introduction

So you've decided that it's time to publish your first ebook, but how do you get started? One option to consider is hiring a freelance writer who specialises in book and ebook writing. But where do you find that writer and what should you be looking for? Read on to find out.

Finding An Ebook Writer

If you are going to choose a freelance writer for your ebook, it is important to find a writer who knows ebook writing. Your chosen writer should be able to produce previously written samples or write a sample which is appropriate for your project. Check the samples to make sure that you are happy with the style and readability. You are looking for interesting and original work and a good command of the language.

Check For References

Choose an ebook writer who has experience of the writing industry and can provide testimonials and client feedback. Most professional book and ebook writers will be happy to provide references when you request them. Check all references thoroughly to be sure that you have selected the right ebook writer.

Ebook Writing Partnership

Working with contract writers is a partnership, so you need to do your part and provide a good project outline and reliable information about milestones and deadlines. In return, you can expect the writer to communicate regularly and respond to any queries you raise. If you have difficulty with communication during the hiring phase, then consider carefully whether you have chosen the right ebook writer.

Negotiating Payment

Negotiating the payment is always tricky, but bear in mind that the cheapest ebook writer will not always be the best. Ebook writing is a skill and experienced writers may charge a bit more. However, the end product will be a skilled piece of writing which will meet your needs. Look around the freelance writing marketplaces to find a great ebook writer.

The Ebook Writing Contract

Once you have found the right writer, it's time to consider the writing contract. Many writers work on a 'work for hire' basis, which means that once you have paid the appropriate fee, the written work belongs exclusively to you. Many freelancers have their own contracts, but you can also find out more about negotiating writing contracts online

Feedback On Your Ebook Project

When the job has been completed, don't forget to provide feedback for the ebook writer. This will help the writer and could be the start of a productive relationship. If you're happy, you will know who to go to the next time you need an ebook writer.
