Kitchen Design
There are literally thousands of kitchen plans out there, for all kitchen sizes and shapes. However, just because a kitchen designs fits the size and shape of your kitchen does not necessarily mean that it is the most suitable one for your style of living, and there is no reason why you should use it exactly as it is. Most of us want to personalize our living space, and the best way to use a kitchen plan is to adjust it to your taste and needs.
Of course, any kitchen plan you work with should be one that is appropriate for the size of your kitchen. In smaller kitchens, for instance, wall cabinets and space saving storage solutions that help to increase counter space are important. Likewise, if you do not have a kitchen with enough free floor space, you can't realistically consider a kitchen designs that includes things like a kitchen island, a separate prep sink or a separate baking center etc.

Before looking at kitchen designs, try to decide what your ideal kitchen would look like. Begin with the ceiling, then the walls, then the type of flooring and, finally the accessories. Once you've settled on a plan, it's best to work from top to bottom. If you start by installing flooring, then paint the walls and the ceiling, you'll have a lot of floor and worktop cleaning to do. Typically, kitchen ceilings do not require much work. If the present ceiling is in good condition, you can just plaster it. Another alternative is to paint it to a shiny gloss, giving it an elegant, mirror-like finish. Ceiling Lights
As you work on the ceiling, deal with any lighting fixture additions you may want to install. You'll need a professional electrician for this. Make sure the electrician understand exactly what kind of lighting fixtures you want to install and where so that your kitchen wiring work will be done correctly the first time. In addition to the main ceiling lights, it's a good idea to install lights in specific work areas (above the sink, over worktops, in your snack corner and even inside deep corner cabinets). Kitchen Walls
Once the ceiling and light fixtures are done, begin working on your kitchen walls. Kitchen walls may simply be painted, or they may be tiled. Tiles are a popular choice in kitchens because they are easy to clean and most people use them as a backlash (about 40 cm above countertop level). Covering all your kitchen walls in tile can be expensive, and if you are on a budget, you probably can use the money for something more useful. It's a good idea to tile the wall behind the cooker, all the way up to the air vent using the same tiles used for the backlash. Kitchen walls can be covered in several types of materials beside ceramic tiles, including stainless steel and colored glass. Kitchen Worktops
After the kitchen ceiling and walls, turn your attention to your kitchen worktops, cabinetry and sink(s). Choose and purchase your kitchen sink first because it will have to be fitted into your countertops, which should be cut according to the size and shape of the sink. Finally, adapt the kitchen plan to your needs. Decide whether you need upper cabinets on all walls and select the material and color of your countertops.
For best results when remodeling your kitchen, it's imperative to focus on how you will be using your kitchen rather than on what it will look like. Consider the number of people who will work / eat in it, your individual style of cooking and entertaining etc. The goal, remember, is to have a beautiful kitchen that is perfectly suited to your life style.
