Chris Hemsworth Workout and Diet Philosophy for Thor

Thor was a great movie, but the real question at this point in time is what was the Chris Hemsworth Thor workout? And what was the Chris Hemsworth Thor diet?

Those are the two questions that are sending shockwaves throughout the fitness and diet industry; this is of course because of how muscular and lean Chris Hemsworth was in the film. You can see the effects Chris Hemsworth's workout and diet had on him in the trailer below, but I also recommend you see the film, because it really was amazing.

There's no doubt in my mind that Chris Hemsworth really had his head on straight for Thor. He's been quoted saying all he did besides film was eat, workout and sleep.

When asked of his physique, he would always emphasize the importance of all three factors.

I've rarely ever heard a celebrity actions star emphasize how important sleep is in achieving and maintaining a physique like Chris's.

In all my writing, I've said over and over that getting the body you want is a matter of a few factors.

But, if you eat healthy, cheat from time to time, workout intelligently, sleep sufficiently, manage stress effectively and have a lifestyle that supports the body you want, it's bound to happen!

Below you will find a combination of all the research I did on Chris Hemsworth's workout and diet. I really tried to get this spot on, so I made sure to read many sources of information on the workout and diet because I know many of you can appreciate the work Chris Hemsworth obviously put into this film.

Chris Hemsworth Workout for Thor

Chris Hemsworth reportedly put on 20 pounds for this role in Thor.

He did this by not only focusing on his workouts, but also putting in the work outside workouts. His diet was in line and he made sure he was sleeping enough every night.

Diet is explained in the next section, but as far as the importance of sleep goes, hormones that build muscle and burn fat (among other things) are produced during sleep, and sleep is necessary for normal hormones throughout the day.

Sleep enough, keep your hormones in line.

Onto the Chris Hemsworth Workout.

Chris Hemsworth Workout was full of compound exercises that focused on putting on mass.

Compound exercises are simply exercises that recruit plenty of muscle fibers to work together synergistically, versus isolation training which only recruits muscle fibers (sort of ) in specific areas.

Common and effective compound exercises include:

Deadlift
Squat
Front Squat
Lunge
Sprints

Chest Press
Cable Chest Press
Bench Press
Push Up

Pull Up
Inverse Row
Dumbbell Row
Virtually any rowing movement

Push Press
One Arm Press

Compound exercises usually deliver better results and more functionality, but also require more attention to form and safety, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

As long as you look the exercises up and maintain form throughout, the muscle you add will be well worth the effort you put in.

Chris Hemsworth Diet for Thor

Chris Hemsworth Diet is explained by himself as being full of chicken, protein shakes, and good carbs. He avoided sugar and too much fat.

Once again, we hear a celebrity speaking about carbohydrate. Lately, especially if you check out the other celebrity diets I've done below, many celebrities are turning towards carb manipulation to keep the fat off while they're putting on muscle for their roles.

Carb manipulation is simply altering the amount of carbohydrate your taking in from day to day, or for some from section of the day to section of the day.

A common strategy I've seen by many celebrities goes as follows:

Consume carbohydrate/starches up until workout of the day
Post-workout until bed time focus on proteins and fats

Keep sugary foods low throughout, focus on more starchy carbs when eating carbohydrate
Lots of protein to keep you full
Don't go too high or too low (very important) on fat

Remember that your diet is one, if not the most important factor in achieving a body you want and health for life. Put the right amount of effort in and you'll realize you're no different than any celebrity, and that you have the same potential to achieve what you want.

P.S. I did see this film on opening day and I have to say it's one of the best Marvel films to date, definitely worth a watch! And that's coming from someone who never really read any of the comics.
