Christian Book Series for Boys

Boys' Book Series that Instill Christian Values
To make it onto this list of great Christian book series for boys, the series has to be fun to read and in line with Christian values if not overtly Christian. Most importantly, it has to pass the T test. T is my ten-year-old son. He has read and enjoyed books from all the series on this list. (That's him reading in the tree.)

What Should Kids Read?
Some people believe that kids should read only "quality literature" while others feel that any reading at all is good. It's clear which side of the debate I'm on, but here is a place for you to have your say.
Should parents and teachers insist that children read quality literature rather than lighter fare?

Yes. You are what you read.
Tipi says:
I'd say a mix of both...everything in moderation...just read, read, read!
MeltedRachel says:
Well, choice is good but there is a lot of rubbish out there.
No. Anything is better than nothing. Choice is good.
kimmanleyort says:
Well, I do agree that quality would be my first choice and there are some things I would draw the line on. However, as a mother of a boy who did not like to read (still doesn't), I have to go with anything is better than nothing.
The Sugar Creek Gang
Wholesome adventure books for boys
Sugar Creek Gang Books 1-6 Set (The Swamp Robber/The Killer Bear/The Winter Rescue/The Lost Campers/The Chicago Adventure/The Secret Hideout)
Amazon Price: $13.45 (as of 05/30/2012)![]()
These are the first six books in the series. The 36 books don't necessarily need to be read in order, but it doesn't hurt. One of my son's favorites is number 8, The Palm Tree Manhunt.
Trailblazer Books by Dave and Neta Jackson
Christian historical fiction for kids
Roundup of the Street Rovers: Charles Loring BraceĀ (Trailblazer Books #36)
Amazon Price: $4.99 (as of 05/30/2012)![]()
This book, with an orphan named Kip as protagonist, chronicles the lives of street kids in New York at the turn of the last century and how Rev. Charles Brace started the Children's Aid Society of New York and the orphan trains that took street children from New York to be adopted by families in the Midwest. My son has read most of the series and named this one as his favorite after much deliberation.
The Chronicles of Narnia
Read before or after watching the movies
The Chronicles of Narnia
Amazon Price: $6.49 (as of 05/30/2012)![]()

These books can be read and enjoyed at many different levels, and at every stage in life. T's favorite is Prince Caspian, and mine, for the moment, is The Silver Chair.

- During "story-time" at school, my mom (who was our teacher) would read us the The Sugar Creek Gang series. I love those books! Also as previous commentor lemonsqueezy mentioned the Mandie books, I read those too when I was growing up and loved them!

- Thanks. I hadn't heard of the Mandie books. I'll check them out; maybe my daughter will like them.
