Christian Internet Radio Live365 Stations

I'm starting off this lens with this subgenre because it's currently my favorite. What can I say, I'm sentimental!

Caleb Radio: I'm listening to this station right now. They play everything from Joy electric and DC Talk to Whitecross, White Heart, Michael W Smith, Carmen, Petra, Farrell and Farrell and the Imperials. And just now? They played Steve Taylor's Lifeboat. I kid you not. If you listened to CCM in the 80's and 90's, this is what you heard. Oh, the memories! VIP

Classic Christian Rock Radio- This is another great Christian online radio station on Live35. In fact, I found out about it because the station owner found this lens and suggested that I check it out. I'm glad I did! A few months ago when I first checked it out, it was a lot of 80's and 90's Christian heavy metal and such- bands and songs that I didn't recognize but yet had a very familiar feel to them. However, right now it's playing Russ Taff ("...and when, I close, my eyes..."). A bit of a difference there, and tells me that he's really got a good mix going. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic, now. Honestly, I don't listen to much modern CCM. I have a lot of musical interests, but anything that can be considered pop is not one of them. However, there are a few solid Christian online radio stations that play modern CCM.

Alien Youth: This is the Live365 station that I keep in my playlist in this subgenre. They play Barlow Girl, Jeremy Camp, Radial Angel, Toby Mack, Switchfoot, Delirious?, Grits, Kutless, Thousand Foot Crutch, and a number of other Christian artists who are very strong musically. The Cross Movement sounds a lot like 50 Cent in my opinion, but with lyrics that lift you up. I've also heard a few songs that remind me of Nickleback. Basically, if you're looking for something that sounds enough like your local Top 40 and rock stations to fool your co-workers, this is a great option. As I said, very strong musically, and the messages are loud and clear- if you listen. VIP

Celtic music has long been one of my favorites. In fact, I started my first professional website to review Celtic albums. Of course, I enjoyed listening to the albums more than writing about them, and so that site is currently languishing in the dark recesses of the internet.

Celtic Christian Spirit: This station is relatively new to me and doesn't seem to have a a more accurate description than simply Christian Celtic music. For example, yesterday was lots of songs that I consider to be mostly modern Celtic. The Electrics, Rich Mullins, Blessed Blend, and Joanna Hogg, among others were featured musicians. Today, however, it has a very calm, traditional feel. I get the feeling that rather than having a preset group of songs constantly looping, that the station owner (Keltic Ken) sort of picks songs based on his mood. I could be wrong- I'm just saying that I can't say "Oh yes, perfect if you love traditional" or "Great if you love modern Celtic music". It could be either/or, or a mix. Free Keltic Ken stopped by after this section went live and let me know that while the songs are pre-scheduled, he worked hard to keep a good mix flowing. I think he did a great job!

Celtic Christian Tunes: I listened to this station a lot around Christmas. To be honest, when I first picked up this Christian online radio station, I thought it said "Christmas Celtic Tunes" and kept thinking how cool that so many of the songs played had a Christian message!

The artists played on this station are more recognizable to me than the names on Christian Celtic Spirit (aside from The Electrics and Rich Mullins, of course). For example, out of the 5 most recent songs on this station, two are from Ceili Rain, 1 from Phil Keaggy, and 1 from Eden's Bridge. I don't recognize every artist on this station, but I do recognize more. It's sort of half way between traditional and modern sound, and I remember hearing songs from the Narnia soundtrack fairly often in December and January. VIP

For a while, I craved hearing hymns sung by people who really meant them. I'm still searching for a Christian internet radio station that plays that. I'm sure it exists somewhere. But I did manage to find a great praise and worship radio station.

Bright Music Station: This station plays Eden's Bridge, Bebo Norman, Sons of Korah, and, well, a lot of others! But what's really cool is when the play actual praise and worship songs that we sing in our church, such as Leeland's Enter This Temple (one of my absolute favorite worship songs). It's very modern praise and worship- sometimes you'll hear praise songs from times past, but for the most part, this station is on the forefront of modern praise music. In the interest of honesty- I can't remember if I heard Counting On God by the Desperation Band here or not. I suspect that I did- but I've been jumping from station to station lately, and it's getting a little confusing. But the coolest thing? This station is broadcast from the Netherlands! VIP
