Simple Free Pumpkin Carving Templates With Christian Designs

Halloween is a holiday often taken over by the scary and ghoulish, but that should not deter Christian families from carving pumpkins. Pumpkin carving is a fun project enjoyed by all ages, and can actually be used within your family values and christian ministry.

This year, consider carving a christian pumpkin that will spread God's Word to those who see it. Have your whole church youth group carve religious pumpkins to decorate the church steps or even inside the church. Pumpkin carving can be a great Sunday School project.

I have made some Christian pumpkin carving cutouts that you can use as stencils, and I've linked to some other great sites that also provide free pumpkin carving templates.

The pumpkin shown here was done by Gabriel Jordan using this stencil from pumpkinglow.com. I think he did a great job.

How a Christian is like a Pumpkin
"It's like being a pumpkin: God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off you may have gotten from the other pumpkins. Then he cuts the top off and scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see."

Trick-or-Treating Idea

Use the Holiday for Outreach

Consider using Halloween as a chance to reach out to the community on behalf of your church. At your home, or even at the church, have baggies ready for the Trick or treaters that can help spread the Word of God and maybe even an invitation to church.

Available free from the American Bible Society are children's bookmarks that would be great to include in your baggies. Also, check your local Bible bookstore for cheap novelty items, pencils, and toys that the kids might like. A lot of kids can't have candy, and all kids will already be getting enough on Halloween, so consider handing out Halloween candy alternatives instead.

If you do hand out candy, you can also include a Christian application to the candy you are handing out. Here are some examples:

A Candy Corn Christian Message

We put up a big plastic sheet with "Happy Harvest Day," and carve a cross with light beams on tall pumpkins which show up great in the dark! Usually type up a gospel msg. to go with and dress up. We have over 200 kids in our subdivision which we enjoy. This year I will do your fish & cross, I love it! Thx & luv!

Thanks a million for your carving suggestions. Our family love to carve Christian pumpkins and needed new ideas. It's become our family tradition and a testament that the message of Christ can be seen on a day used to celebrate evil.

Thank you sooooooooooo much for this post. For years I have looked for a way to connect Christ to our pumpkin (if my husband had his way we wouldn't observe this day at all). We have always made happy pumpkins and all our costumes are happy and friendly characters. Great links to the children's poems as well! What a great way to display the Lord's Light on the darkest night of the year :)

I am a Christian and though have always made a point of keeping my pumpkins smiling, it never occurred to me to do something like this...my children are grown, but the kid at heart may just want to do this sometime for the children that come to the door. I absolutely love this!
