Inspirational and informational Christian lenses
You'll find Christian quotes from the Bible and from Christians here. You'll meet some unique people who interpreted Christianity in ways that may make you look differently on your own life and faith. You'll find books and calendars to further inspire you. And lots of debates: about the nature of God, the soul, miracles and more.
On this lensography I gather all my Christian lenses together, starting with the inspiring ones, going on with the philosophical debate ones. Those philosophical lenses are usually dependent on theology.
I'm also sharing something of my family history - a line of theologians with the same name: J.M.S. Baljon. Johannes Marinus Simon Baljon - my grandfather and his father and grandfather.

A family connection
My grandfather, J.M.S. Baljon, was a theologian. He was a minister for part of his life, but his heart was with science, and he managed to get a job in the Islamology department. Eventually he became a professor and his lectures all over the world were testimony to how much he was appreciated.
His father, J.M.S. Baljon, was also a theologian. He was more interested in the people of the parish though and for much of his life lived in the East Indies (as Indonesia was then called): family report has it he was one of the few Dutch able to appreciate the 'natives' on their own terms. It's clear growing up in Indonesia my grandfather first got interested in Islam.
His father, J.M.S. Baljon the first, was also a theologian. He was one of the first in the literary Bible interpretation school. This great-great grandfather and my grandfather made books that ended up mentioned in the Open Library. The 19th century one is not by my grandfather of course.
My parents left the church but raised their kids with the children's Bible. We still tend to read the Bible when (if) we get together for Christian holidays. I'm sure my parents never expected two of their kids to be seriously interested in alternative spirituality (yes, one of those kids is me).
But as this lens shows, I have not totally left behind my Christian roots...
And my mom, when she left behind her work in a psychiatric institution a few weeks ago, invited a speaker on Christianity and Psychiatry.

- Interesting to note that theology runs in the roots. :)

- I'm a lifelong Christian but I am open hearted - I am a firm Christian but love to learn about other perspectives of life and the afterlife. I find this lens to be informative and intriguing - thanks a lot for providing these resources! I have my own lens about Bible study lessons, and I hope it may provide some use to your readers.

- It's interesting to learn that your parents left the church. My mother was Catholic but left the church, my father was an atheist. We were given a children's bible, quite beautiful actually. We read it on our own and to this day I find I often know more about the Christian Bible than many of my friends who attended church regularly. (not that I really know that much about it) Anyway, I don't really equate my spirituality to the bible per se.
