On March 10, 1871, representatives from 23 churches in the London area met in Soho Chapel, Oxford Street, to form the Metropolitan Association of Strict Baptist Churches. Since then, the boundaries of the Association have grown to include the South-East corner of England, from Essex across to Oxfordshire, then south to Hampshire. In 1986, the name was changed to the Association of Grace Baptist Churches (South East). At present, the Association includes 57 churches.
