Christian and Divorced... Now What?
Almost four years ago now I found myself faced with the prospect of divorce.
I had attended bible college, planted a new congregation, graduated from seminary.
When I was a pastor, I had fielded hundreds of questions about christians and divorce. Truth is, I always counselled against it. Now I I was having questions of my own, and it felt like my life was over.
This lens, a work in progress, explores some of the questions christians may have about divorce. I hope it will be a resource that that will help you on your way to recovery from your divorce.

But what about the Bible...
Is God Mad at Me?
Since God's ideal plan has always been the permanent union between a husband and his wife, couples should strive to make this goal a personal reality. Sadly, however, this isn't always possible. Here are some Bible facts about divorce.
Divorce and remarriage was permitted in the Law that God gave to Moses.
Jesus later acknowledged the unchangeable nature of the Mosaic Law.
Jesus answer to the Pharisees, quoted in Matthew and Mark: "What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder"
God's goal for marriage is permanence. All couples should aim for this goal.
Paul instructed the members of the church at Corinth that the ideal goal for a separated or divorced couple are to seek reconciliation or to remain celibate. However, a divorce is permissible in the case of desertion. He says nothing about remarriage.
But from the rest of the Bible one can assume that remarriage was permitted after desertion.
