Extraordinary Design in Decorative Artworks by J.P. & Christine Garner

.P. was born into a military family and traveled extensively throughout his childhood.

After leaving home, he continued traveling throughout Europe and Asia. For him travel meant exposure to culture and to the arts.

J.P. holds graduate degrees in Psychology and a doctorate in Theology.

He is an Internet webmaster and has conducted classes in web site design and computer graphics. He is a self taught artist and metal smith.

Christine Garner has been an artist all her life, she was first taught by her artist mother and later broadened her skills and knowledge at the Denver Art Institute.

Christine has distinguished herself as a figurative painter and expert in wood burning arts long before she emerged as an abstract painter.

Her first interest in metalwork began when she and her husband began making jewelry and copper work together in the late 80's and early 90's.

The artists always had a desire to work larger; J. Price wanted to move from soldering to welding and shape larger pieces of metal, so they launched into sculpting metal on a larger scale.

The combining of their skills led them to their newest art form, steel wall sculpture.

Steel bent and shaped into interesting forms and painted in a unique way with enamels and acrylics, texturing them to sometimes appearing like fabric and embellishing them with chemical patinas, gilder's paste and powdered metals.

As jewelers, J.P. and Christine's work often involved marriage of metals; so carrying forward this marriage of metals idea, they currently incorporate stainless steel and cold-rolled steel in their work.

They have entered the home décor market working closely with interior designers, commercial builders and corporate art consultants.
