Christkindlesmarkt in Nuernberg
Visiting a Weihnachtsmarkt (= Christmas Fair) probably is the best way to get in touch with "German Gemütlichkeit". Nuremberg has an impressive and famous one. A guide to Zewtschgamännla, Christstollen and Bratwürstl - and, of course, a good place for christmas presents....
Christmas - Weihnachten
When I visited Nuremberg for the first time (it was in Summer 2005) I was fascinated by this ancient city and its half timbered houses. Although destroyed to almost 80% during WW2, it was interesting to see how this city has come back.
My next stop there was in winter. This was much more impressive, because of the Christkindlesmarkt, which is one of Germanys oldest Christmas Markets - and a very beautiful one.
