Is blu-ray a part of your life?
It's a Wonderful Life Blu-ray
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
Starring: James Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, Thomas Mitchell and Henry Travers Director: Frank Capra
It's A Wonderful Life was almost lost and totally forgotten for years because of a copyright issue. In the 1970s, airings on television brought it back to the public and to popularity. The story line, in case you do not know it, is that of an angel who arrives to show George a vision. The film depicts an "American dream gone bad" and tells of the trials and tribulations of life but also of the importance of friendship and achievement. Not a hit when it was originally released, it "weaves a special magic" with today's audiences.
The contents of the blu-ray set have not been confirmed but are rumoured to include the black and white and colorized version of It's A Wonderful Life, The Making of It's A Wonderful Life and the original theatrical trailer in HD.
The official release date for this film is November 3, 2009. In case you are unaware, Amazon has a pre-order price guarantee. That means you can order your blu-ray movie now and, if the price goes down between now and when the movie becomes available, Amazon will bill you at the lower price. Plus, they will not charge you at all until the movie is in stock and ready to ship.

A Christmas Carol on Blu-ray
A Christmas Carol (1951)
Starring: Alastair Sim, Jack Warner, Kathleen Harrison and Mervyn Johns.
For the first time ever on blu-ray, the best-known and most acclaimed version of Charles Dickens' story. Featuring an excellent performance by Alastair Sim and the rest of the cast, the 1951 filmed version is most definitely my favorite. This is the classic English version, recommended for individuals six years old and up.
This movie will feature a high-definition film transfer with digitally restored picture and sound. Special features include optional English or Spanish subtitles, Dolby Digital 2.0 or 5.1, audio commentary by George Cole, biographies of cast members and a standard DVD.
Promises to be a classic movie that you won't want to miss on blu-ray!

Miracle on 34th Street Blu-ray
Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
Starring Maureen O'Hara, John Payne, Edmund Gwenn, Natalie Wood and Gene Lockhart.
Miracle on 34th Street features one department store Santa who turns out to be the real Santa who just happened to get himself hired at Macy's. His wonderful spirit and his magic change the lives of the people around him, including one special little girl and her mother.
This blu-ray movie was released on blu-ray on October 6th, 2009 to mixed reviews. Apparently, information about this blu-ray indicates that it contains a colorized version and it does not so if having a colorized version is important to you, do not buy the blu-ray version. Many people, however, really prefer the black and white version.
AMAZON CUSTOMER REVIEW:
"...this is the best presentation this movie will ever be because of the age of the movie. It beats the DVD, which is enough to prompt me to buy the Blu-ray." ~~ Doc Ostrow

A Charlie Brown Christmas Blu-ray
A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
Starring Ann Altieri and Chris Doran.
A Charlie Brown Christmas may well be the best of the Charlie Brown television specials. It is certainly a classic that millions of people watch every single year and now you can do so on blu-ray disc. A wonderful story that helps us think about what is special about the Christmas season. Recommended for children three years of age and up.
Kenneth Brown of bluray.com says, "A Charlie Brown Christmas has never looked better." It features an excellent video transfer and he goes on to say that, it has "deeper blacks, more brilliant colors, crisper lines, and a more technically proficient image."
This blu-ray set includes two specials, A Christmas Miracle which is a look at the creation of this A Charlie Brown Christmas and It's Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown a Peanuts holiday special.
Originally, the creators of A Charlie Brown Christmas thought they had created a show that was going to flop. They were, of course, thrilled and shocked when it premiered with high ratings and excellent reviews. Today, A Charlie Brown Christmas is the second longest-running Christmas special on U.S. television.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas Blu-ray
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1965)
Starring Boris Karloff, Thurl Ravenscroft and June Foray
Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a wonderfully charming classic, a holiday staple. Another story that reminds us of what is important at Christmas, this one is recommended for children five years of age and up.
There is some controversy about how bright the Grinch's green fur is in the blu-ray version but Kenneth Brown of blu-ray.com contends that "the television special's original animation cells prove Warner's 1080p/VC-1 transfer is a faithful representation of its animators' choices and intentions. Colors are rich and rewarding (yep, even the greens), blacks are suitably inky, contrast is gorgeous, and Chuck Jones' lineart is crisper than it's ever been."

- What a great collection of Christmas holiday movies Brenda, and laid out in your own excellent laid back promotional style. And that is what I love about your lenses. They are shopping lenses but they do not scream "buy this, buy that", with a hint of desperation in your voice. You also always add your own very personal commentary.
And for all these reasons, here's a SquidAngel Blessing for you.
