Christmas Centerpiece - Ball Ornament Tree

DIY Christmas Crafts

Christmas Ball Tree Centerpiece

Whether you make just one or a set of 3 (keep it an odd number) you will love making these Christmas ball trees. They are fun, beautiful and can be made to match any decor. I have made them out of "Hot" colors, retro greens and reds (my favorite), traditional red, green and white and everything in between. They were sold at numerous craft fairs and I even took orders for them. They are easy to make and something you will use on your table, fireplace mantel, hearth, window sill, sofa or coffee table year after year.

For step by step instructions: Christmas Balls Tree

Tip:

Christmas Ball ornaments come in a ton of different colors. I have made these in brown, gold, burgundy and ivory for Thanksgiving, pastels for Easter and hot colors because that's what my daughter wanted. The ornaments are hard if not impossible to find outside the Christmas season, so stock up now and make Balls trees throughout the year.

Gumdrop Tree Centerpiece

Gumdrop Tree

Gumdrop Trees are a very simple and fun centerpiece to make for the holidays. Kids love to help when candy is involved! Just make sure they don't eat all the gumdrops!

Gumdrop Tree centerpieces are tall and skinny and don't take up much room. They are great for adding vertical height in an otherwise "same-size" grouping. For detailed instructions visit: How to Make a Gumdrop Tree

Countdown to Santa Chalkboard

Kid friendly Christmas Crafts

Countdown to Santa Chalkboard

This is a simple, inexpensive and fun craft that the kids can help with! You will need:

  • 5"x7" plain framed chalk board
  • Paint - in whatever color you choose
  • ornaments or embellishments you choose (garland, beads, small christmas signs, wood embellishments, ornaments, etc...)
  • Ribbon to match your choosen embellishments
  • 1 small wood candle cup
  • 1 stick of chalk
  • Hot glue gun
  • 2 picture frame holder teeth or eye design (if your chalkboard doesn't already have these on the back)
  • White Paint Marker

1. Attach the two picture holders to the back of the chalkboard frame.

2. Paint the frame of your chalk board and your candle cup with your choosen paint color(s). Re-coat if needed. Allow to dry completely.

3. Hot glue the candle cup to the frame. In the picture it is on the lower right corner.

4. Tie each end of your ribbon to the picture frame holders you installed on the back of the frame.

5. Using your glue gun, attach your embellishments to the frame of the chalkboard.

6. Write your message with the white paint pen leaving an area for the number to be written (and changed) in chalk. I wrote the following in paint pen:

____ Days 'til Santa Comes!!

The number 37 was written in chalk.

7. Store the chalk stick in the candle cup.
