4 Christmas Getaways in France
Ranked #12,438 in Travel & Places, #304,564 overall
Whether you're looking for an enchanted cottage in the country, a chalet deep in the Alps or to escape the winter cold in a holiday villa, France is the perfect destination for your family Christmas break. Below is a list of my top five destinations in France to visit during the festive period.
The Alps - A winter wonderland
For those who love the idyllic Christmas card snow scenes with snow capped mountains, magical sleigh rides and crackling log fires, the Alps are home to some of the worlds top ski resorts to spend Christmas playing in the snow.
The French Riviera - A warmer Christmas
The French Riviera offers the mildest and sunniest Christmas for those who are hoping to escape the cold. If you are lucky with the weather, Christmas dinner in the Riviera (and even in the Languedoc) can often be eaten outside, quite comfortably!
Normandy - Winter fun for the whole family
A giant cross-country ski slope, a discovery trail through fairy-lighted villages, Christmas concerts, enchanting street entertainment, festivals, street arts, markets, old train rides, fireworks, pony rides and children's Christmas craft workshops. There are plenty of fun things to do for all the family in Normandy during Christmas.
Brittany - A traditional Christmas
La Pomme d'Orange is a delightful festival in Peillac, Brittany providing wonderful festive entertainment for all the family. Take a tour of the Christmas lights and attend a traditional Christmas mass or spend an evening browsing the Christmas markets with food stalls, mulled wine and Christmas treats. Alternatively, visit France's first ever indoor theme park, Parc des Expositions.
