To give you a little background, our "kids to buy for" list consists of 14 children including my kids, nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. When I'm searching for gifts, I don't want to be rushed, just choosing anything in the store. I want the kids I buy for to enjoy and appreciate my efforts, otherwise, what is the point in spending the time and money.

Read on to find out my personal take on what will be the hottest gifts this year. I will review the product in my own words, at times using video or photos to help give it a better review. How to Train Your Dragon is an uplifting story about a boy and his dragon. The movie gives a great brains over brawn message, however, young children may be fearful. My 5 year old did fine and enjoyed the entire movie, but my 3 year old niece was scared at parts. Overall, the movie is entertaining and fun!

THE KARATE KID WINS AGAIN!

Aremake of the 1984 original movie of the same name, The Karate Kid is a wonderfully enlightening and heartfelt movie teaching the importance of conquering your obstacles. The lead character, Dre, comes face to face with

antagonistic bullies who taunt Dre, beat him up, and challenge him to a Kung Fu competition until a maintenance man (played by Jackie Chan) Mr. Han, hesitantly agrees to train Dre for a kung fu competition where he'll face his nemeses. The relationship develops between the two, helping both Dre and Mr. Han grow past their inner-demons.

The Karate Kid

The Karate Kid
a remake of The Karate Kid made during 1984, is a wonderful version of the story. Dre, a 12 year old boy relocates with his mother to Bejing, an unfamiliar place where he is still terrorized by bullies. Help comes in the form of his mentor, Mr. Han, who teaches the true meaning of manhood and courage.

Another cloud b item that looks like a winner is the new Cuddle Pillow for young children. These are said to be for all ages, HOWEVER, I personally believe these are not good for newborns if placed in the crib. It is possible that a child could smoother him or herself if it is inside the crib at too young of an age. My 20-month old is ready for a pillow, and although she'd love a pillow pet, those are for ages 3+. These pillow pals do not have eyes that could easily be removed and choked on, so I will be investing in this for my little one and the Pillow Pets for my older two.

REVIEW:
I just received the Lavender Lab pillow pal and it is absolutely adorable! It's soft, cuddly, and safe! I can't wait to give it to my youngest. She's ready for a pillow, but I wanted to get her a fun one since my older two are getting pillow pets. I would recommend this to anyone! It's not overly fluffy, so kids will enjoy it as a pillow, tug around the house, or bring in the car! The underside of the ears, the thread for the nose and mouth, are all lavender in color and the lavender pack can be removed if needed. This was a concern of mine because I am not a fan of overly scented things. It removes very easily, however, it is not an overwhelming odor. It's a very subtle and fresh scent so I will be leaving it in the pillow. I really don't want to wait until Christmas or her birthday to give it to her, but it wouldn't be wise to give each child a gift right now. This is definitely one I would recommend to others!!!

Spin Master seems to be taking the cake this year! Another great product debuting this year for kids is the Pop-on Pal line for little ones. They are perfect for little hands and will be a favorite for sure! They remind me of Fisher Price's Snap N Style line, but a little easier for tiny hands.

My Thoughts:

Yes, I still read to him because that's good for him, but if I'm busy I would much rather him read than sit and watch tv! Great product! I may have to keep this one and donate another one!

Leapfrog is always on my list of great gift ideas for preschoolers. There are so many great things about leapfrog. I consider Leapfrog to be a wonderful learning tool. Purchasing a Leapfrog toy for my preschooler is an investment in her education.

My Thoughts
My kids have played with Leapster for YEARS! It's always been a #1 toy around our house. I have not yet had the opportunity to try this version out, but i am considering it for my youngest. My only complaint is that the cartridges do not work with the older Leapsters.



Tag Reading System is a great way to teach kids reading skills. I bought one for each of my two older kids and a Tag Jr. for my 20 month old. My 5 year old son does not have a love of reading like my 7 year old daughter does, but he loves his Tag!

My Thoughts
What a GREAT addition to Tag! My 2nd grader will be learning geography this year, so this is perfect! I really love how Leapfrog always seems to come up with something new that will benefit my children. This child is reading well on her own, so she doesn't use the tag quite as much as she used to (although she still does just for fun) but this map is a great learning tool! Leapfrog always grows with my kids. Love it!

Pillow Pets have been popular for several years and there is no indication that they are going anywhere anytime soon. My kids beg me for a pillow pet every time the commercial airs.

This is usually a pretty good indication that these will be top items on Christmas lists so I knew I had to hurry and purchase one. My son's birthday is 5 days before Christmas, so I ordered and received this recently. It looks pretty neat! I think it will keep his attention and I'm sure he'll be asking me for the entire set! Aside from the DVD/Blu Ray, Disney has come out with oodles of great toys to keep your little ones entertained all winter long! My 5 yr old son is in awe each time we enter the toy aisle.

He was recently given a Toy Story Bucket o Soldiers by his grandma, which he absolutely loves. Those little green army men adorn his room along every flat surface, including the window sill. It's a bucketful of imagination is what that is.

The debut of Mighty Beanz came in 2002, but this year Moose Enterprises relaunched Mighty Beanz with a completely new range of collectibles. These Mighty Beanz are bound to be on Christmas lists this year, but keep in mind that the collector series (Star Wars and Marvel) are already selling out. I was able to grab some of the Marvel ones to give to the kids as stocking stuffers. While at the store, i picked up a few "regular" beanz to give to the kids a little early just to see if they were really all they are cracked up to be. I purchased one 6pk of Series 2 Beanz and two flip tracks and gave my two older children 3 Mighty Beanz and a flip track each. I have to say, this was a full week ago and they are STILL playing with them. They bring them in the car, play nicely together with them. My son brought them to the gym with us and played with them for an hour while my daughter had basketball practice. These little toys are amazing at holding attention! My daughter really likes them, too, even though they seem more "boyish" with some of the styles.
When I purchased the Marvel ones, I made sure the Beanz I could see was of a girl super hero so that my daughter will have a few girlie ones. I can't wait until Christmas. They will love them! I wish i was able to find the Star Wars ones because my son is a die-hard star wars fan. They are very hard to find, and I imagine they will only get more difficult!

Yes, this Christmas is going to be about Toy Story 3 and the Toy Story Imaginext theme is no exception. Many young children are awaiting the opportunity to play with buzz and woody in the new Imaginext Junkyard Playset.

Imaginext has many other lines that have been winners year after year, so although I think the Toy Story line will be the biggest sale of the season for Imaginext, I do believe that other Imaginext lines are great. My son has the Batman, Dragon, and Fire House and they are played with daily. Imaginext definitely knows their demographic!

Yet again, Toy Story 3 has emerged as another hot toy! I know my son is crazy about the Toy Story lego sets in stores. I imagine 3 or 4 of them will be on is list. There are many Toy Story 3 sets to choose from, including Duplo, Toy Story, and Toy Story 3.

I got this for my son who has been enjoying the Star Wars franchise with dad for the last several weeks. He has one of the $9.99 light sabers, but has been begging for this one for quite some time. This Spinning Lightsaber is very cool. It is great for imaginary play and has great sounds and lights! The sabers disconnect and can be used independently, however, the point of this saber is the gyro center, which is what makes it a favorite of my son's new toys.

Uggs have been around for a while now, and there is no indication that these stylish boots are going anywhere anytime soon. There are so many styles to choose from.
Uggs come in all sizes, including little kids, but I put these in the 12+ category because your teens and pre-teens will be begging for these. I am also including details on the Womens fashion styles and sizes because although they do make these in boys/men sizes, girls will be more likely to add them to their list. There are many Uggs to choose from in Infant, Little Kid, Big Kid, Womens, and Mens sizes.
They are quite expensive, too, so older children may find it easier to understand if they only receive Uggs for Christmas due to the cost whereas little ones are going to wonder why Santa brought them boots and nothing else. :)

This is sure to be a favorite for those teens or pre-teens on your list. My first flight, I was surprised at how smooth a flight this little heli had. The recommended age is 14 and up but I believe it would be easily maneuvered by a 10 yr old. It is great for indoor flight with it's Gyroscope technology as I had no difficulty controlling it.

I'll start this recommendation with a disclaimer. This is VERY similar to the college-played game "Beer Pong". Does that mean it's a bad idea for your teen? I think that's entirely up to you. It is fun and kids will enjoy it and probably won't even relate it to being beer pong, if they even know what beer pong is. If they do, I think a candid conversation about this being a game of aim and not practice for when they are in college would be in order.

I would be remiss if I failed to mention the much anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword The only problem? The release date is unknown.
