According to Wikipedia, the coolie hat was the first hat found on Thebes tomb painting of Egypt dating around 1100 to 1600 years BC, where it shows a man wearing it.Amazingly, this is still a popular style worn today.

- Totally fun, I bought my 2 year old grandson an alligator hat for Christmas and a toy gun. He and his sister play "hunting the dinosaur" (he thinks its a dinosaur) One of them wears the hat and the other one uses the gun.

- Hats are for expression, these days; about hundred years ago the hat was the proper thing to wear. It has evolved from proper to crazy.
