Christmas in a Theme Park
Countdown to Christmas at Theme Parks
What better way to spend your family Christmas vacation than at a theme park? Some of my fondest memories of Christmas is the time I spent with my family at an amusement park. This Christmastime you won't want to miss what's happening at these great parks. Some parks have great shows. Some really come alive at night. Some have the whole package with stars and even make it snow when you thought it was impossible! Let's start the Christmas countdown!
#5 Busch Gardens Virgina
ChristmasTown
A multitude of other shows and attractions will delight you as well. The whole family can enjoy Miracles, Deck the Halls, O Tannebaum and A Sesame Street Christmas. If you do not like to sit and watch a show, perhaps you would enjoy shopping in the Misteltoe Marketplace, exploring the Highland Stables, partying with the penguins in the Ice Palace, or visiting with Santa Claus at Santa's Workshop. If none of that tickles your fancy, you can ride some of the many fantastic rides that Busch Gardens Williamsburg has to offer.
The celebration begins on November 25th and is only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until December 19. Then it is open every day except for Christmas Day. On all days that they are open for this event, the hours are 3:00PM to 10:00PM.
Ticket prices start at $24.99 and discounts are available when you buy as a group or when you purchase more than one day. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate.

#4 Universal Studios Resort
Holidays & Grinchmas
The highlight of many people's holiday season is the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. You can enjoy the magic of the parade by seeing authentic floats in the Macy's Holiday Parade every evening at Universal Studios. Universal Studios also offers some other great Christmas attractions. Holiday Village features arts, tasty food, kids' crafts and your favorite Holiday music performed every night! StarToons Holiday Show allows you to enjoy your favorite holiday tunes with some of your favorite toon characters. The kiddos will enjoy a sing-a-long with A Barney Holiday. A live rock and roll atmosphere will entertain at the Blues Brothers Holiday Show and you may even catch some snowflakes on Delancey Street at the end of each show.
Islands of Adventure lends itself to a spectacular holiday with its Harry Potter theme park called the Wizarding World of Harry Potter complete with Hogwart's Express and Butterbeer. However, there is even more wonderful-magicment that awaits over in Seuss Landing where you will find the Grinch. You can enjoy "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," a live show featuring music recorded by Mannheim Steamroller. You can also explore the area where you can find a wonky Holiday tree as well as many lights and decorations.
The Holidays and Grinchmas festivities begin December 3 and continue until January 1. Hours vary so check them online. Tickets can be purchased online or at the gate and can be fairly pricey, but save buy getting a package deal.

#1 Dollywood
Smoky Mountain Christmas
Dolywood is known for great shows. Christmastime is no different. Dollywood's Christmas on Ice is performed by the Ice Theater of New York. Dollywood's musical Christmas tradition, Christmas in the Smokies, features a 12-member cast and seven-piece band performing hometown holiday favorites that celebrate the joy of the season. Let the beautiful sound of the acoustic music take you back to a simpler Christmas at the Back Porch Theatre with Appalachian Christmas. . Celebrate a Southern Gospel Christmas as the Kingdom Heirs keep your spirits high with your favorite Christmas hymns and songs. A family finds its own Christmas miracle with the help of a mysterious, white-bearded stranger in 'Twas the Night Before Christmas featuring a 12-member cast and a five-piece band. They even have worship services right in the park at the Robert F. Thomas Chapel at 5:30 p.m. each Sunday throughout Smoky Mountain Christmas festival. A little girl looks for an angel; three shepherds follow a star. They all find their way to the heart of "The Christmas Story." in O' Holy Night.
Dollywood guests are invited on an extraordinary adventure on THE POLAR EXPRESS 4-D EXPERIENCE! When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self discovery. Do you believe?
Check out a super-sized toy display and become a kid again in Santa's Workshop. Of course no trip to the workshop is complete without a visit with the Jolly Old Elf himself.
After dark this park really comes alive! Everyone loves a parade, especially Dollywood's daily Parade of Lights featuring Christmas floats adorned with brightly colored lights. Each night thousands of lights synchronize with holiday music to transform the Rivertown Lake into a "seasonal symphony for the senses" with Carol of the Trees.
