Christmas LEGO Instructions, Crafts, Kits and Ideas

LEGO to Build for the Holidays

It's the holiday season and time to get creative with your LEGO collection and snap together some bricks to deck the halls with Christmas themed LEGO models. You can start with your big pile of LEGO bricks or purchase a set, like the LEGO Winter Village Post Office and build your display.

Fortunately, there are a ton of resources out there to purchase current LEGO holiday sets and sets of years past, as well as viewing instructions for sets you may be able to build yourself with the parts you have at home.

Don't have the parts? There are resources for that, too!

Also, visit LEGOLAND parks and their Miniland displays are full of LEGO Santas, reindeer and other holiday themed models that can inspire you to be creative and create your own.

I've compiled some instructions, ideas and resources that will get you going in your LEGO Christmas crafts.

How to Build a LEGO Reindeer

type=text

This is a very simple LEGO Reindeer, you may be able to build with the parts you have at home. If not, you can try your local LEGO store or LEGO.com to get the parts you might need.

To print these instructions, save them to your computer by right clicking on the instructions and choosing "Save Picture As".

THEN, name the file and save to whatever location you choose on your computer.

NEXT, you can open the instructions and PRINT.

Where Can I Find LEGO Christmas sets, kits, or instructions?

type=textThere are a few LEGO.com Christmas sets to purchase complete with parts and instructions.

Peeron.com is my go-to resource for building instructions. You can simply put keywords in their search to find "Christmas" instructions or pretty much anything you want. Parts are not available, here, so you will have to buy or use your own LEGO bricks.

Bricklink.com catalog search for Christmas Sets has complete sets, used and new that you can purchase all ready to go.

Of Course, there is always LEGO on Amazon

Where do I Buy the LEGO Parts I Need?

type=textIf you need specific LEGO parts, there are 2 places you can go:

LEGO.com Pick-A-Brick
You will have to hunt around for specific parts, but you can sort by color and purchase individual parts.

Bricklink.com Parts Catalog
Bricklink.com is a website that hosts individual stores, sort of like E-Bay, so you will have to check with each store on their order minimum and shipping charges. Most will take payment through Paypal and you can give feedback on your purchases, once received.

Just select what you think the part is called and they will show you a list with pictures. Once you find what you are looking for, click on the item number. On the next page click "Lots for Sale" and they will show you all the stores that carry the part you are looking for.

Use your search options and filters when you get your list of the item you want. You may want to do an advanced search, looking for items in your country of choice, new or used, or search for a seller that has the item for the lowest price or highest qty.

*Keep in mind, some parts are hard to find and aren't made any more, so you may have to pay a premium or make a substitution

Target 2011 Holiday Gift Card with Free LEGO Set

type=textIt doesn't appear to be available online, anymore and I haven't hunted one down in-store, yet, but these Target gift cards come with a free LEGO set that can build the Target dog, a polar bear or a snowman (one set can build what you choose).

They seem to be available on eBay (see below), so I'm thinking that they may have all been snatched up already from Target stores.
