European Christmas markets
The advent season, which begins around the end of November, is a special time of year in Europe; there are more than 2500 Christmas Markets or Christkindlmarkts in Germany alone. A spicy aroma of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts fills the air, as towns and cities are transformed into magical wonderlands, full of excited children (and equally excited parents) enjoying candied fruits, nuts, candy floss, Christmas decorations, delicacies and mulled wine, a glass or two of which makes the Christmas markets seem even more wonderful!
Benefit by booking a flight and hotel though British Airways. They offer a fantastic selection of hotels in truly historic cities which feature the best traditional Christmas markets, their packages provide guaranteed savings.
The European Christmas markets on this page highlights some of the the most beautiful European cities to be seen during Christmas, all conveniently arranged in alphabetical order, and at the end of the page you will find recipes for those Christkindlmarkt food treats, which include the Christmas favourites, glühwein (mulled wine), and spiced nuts.
