My Christmas Ornament Collection

I began collecting Christmas tree ornaments when I was a teenager. I worked for a drugstore and during the Christmas holidays, the store had some of the most beautiful Christmas tree ornaments. I would wait until after Christmas when they went on sale and use my store discount and get the ornaments for a steal! By the time I got married I already had enough ornaments for a good start on Christmas tree decorating.

My collecting has continued through the years. I like handmade Christmas ornaments so I can usually find unique Christmas ornaments at craft shows or Christmas bazaars.

I have also made it a habit to purchase Christmas ornaments on my many travels. I have ornaments from Disney World, Hawaii, the Outer Banks, as well as many other places around the United States. It's fun to look at my Christmas tree in December and remember all those exciting vacations over the years.

Of course, there are the kids Christmas ornaments they have made over the years, the macaroni ornament, school picture ornaments, pipe cleaner ornaments, and angels. They are all very special and will always find a place on my Christmas tree.

I have collected so many ornaments at this point; I can't even fit them all on the Christmas tree! It would be nice to have another Christmas tree so I can display them all but our house just doesn't have the space. So, I can rotate Christmas ornaments from year to year always still displaying my favorites.

Reasons for Collecting Ornaments

  • Christmas ornaments are small and take up very little room
  • You won't get tired of your Christmas ornament collection because it's not sitting out all year
  • You don't have to dust and clean a bunch of trinkets on the shelf
  • Most Christmas ornaments are inexpensive and easy to find
  • You can collect Christmas ornaments in a variety of themes
  • Friends and relatives will give them to you as gifts when they find out you collect Christmas ornaments
