Holiday Games Ideas

  • Who am I: As all your guests enter put a sticker on their backs with the name of a Christmas character. Everyone else is allowed to see who they are, but they are not allowed to know what is on their sticker. They must then go around asking people questions about their character until they guess who it is. This is a great ice breaker as it gets people talking when they may not otherwise know what to say.

  • Reindeer Tail Tag: Divide your guests into teams and get them to stand in a line, holding onto one another by the waist or elbows. The last person at the back of the line has a reindeer tail pinned on them that the team needs to try and protect, whilst trying to grab hold of the other team's tail. The last team with a tail wins.

  • Family Olympics: Have your own cool winter olympics with your family. Assign different family members to different events and then compete against one another.

  • Gingerbread Man Relay Race: "Run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man". You know the story. Well, this time you have to catch the gingerbread - each team is given a gingerbread with different team members standing on opposite sides of the field. Each person then races to the next carrying the gingerbread man until everyone has completed the race. The first team to finish wins.

Other Holiday Party Ideas

  • House to House: If your party guests live close enough, don't limit yourself to just one household - have a travelling Christmas party. Have appetizers at one home, main course at another, and dessert at a third. You can either play the party games at the house where you have dessert or even move onto another house and have games there.

  • Candy Cane Pass: Line your guests up in an even number of teams and get them to hold four candy canes between their fingers, passing this down the line from back to front. The first group to get all candy canes to the front without breaking them wins.

  • Christmas Angel Bird Feeders: Turn flat pastries or tortillas into angel shapes and attach a string to the top. Spread peanut butter on the one side and cover with bird seed. Hang it from the trees to feed the birds.

  • Cocoa Commotion: You bring the mugs, your guests bring the cocoa. Play some festive music, supply some sweet treats and dig into a great party.
