EASY Christmas Cookie Recipes Starring Rudolph!

Every year it seems I scour the web looking for fun and creative Christmas holiday cookies to make with my nieces and nephews. Last year, I came across several fun reindeer cookie recipes that the kids LOVED! They were easy to make and so adorable.

In this lens, I'll share those 2 recipes plus a few more that I found this year. We are looking forward to letting Rudolph's nose shine bright on the treat plate that we leave out for Santa this year. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

Easy Reindeer Cookies

1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated gingerbread or peanut butter cookies
64 small pretzel twists
64 semisweet chocolate chips (about 1/4 cup)
16 candied cherries, cut in half, if desired

Heat oven to 350°F. Unwrap the roll of refrigerated cookie dough. With hands, shape the roll into a triangle-shaped log. (If dough is too soft to cut, place in freezer 30 minutes.)

With thin sharp knife (or cheese cutter), cut dough into 32 (1/4-inch-thick) triangular slices. Place triangular cookie wedges on ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. Place 2 pretzel twists on each triangle near corners to form the reindeer antlers.

Place cookies in the oven and bake according to package directions (about 7 to 11 minutes). While still warm, lightly press 2 chocolate chips into each cookie for eyes and 1 cherry half for nose. Let cookies stand on the sheet for a few minutes to cool.

Remove from cookie sheets and move to cooling rack or hard surface. Let cookies stand until chocolate chips are set, about 15 to 30 minutes. If the kids don't eat all the reindeer cookies, they can be stored between sheets of waxed paper in tightly covered container.

WooHoo...I'm seeing Purple!

This lens was awarded a sparkly purple star by the powers that be on December 28, 2010. Special thanks to the lensmaster who nominated this lens. It was fun to make and the cookies were yummy to eat!

I hope you all enjoy the reindeer cookie recipes as much as I do :)

Frosted Reindeer Cookies

1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated sugar cookies
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup vanilla ready-to-spread frosting
64 small pretzel twists
64 semisweet chocolate chips (about 1/4 cup)
16 gumdrops, cut in half

Preheat oven to 350°F. In large mixing bowl, break up cookie dough and work flour into dough until well blended (your hands are the best tool for this job!). Remove cookie dough from the bowl and shape into its original log size, but make it more triangular shaped. (If dough is too soft to cut, place in freezer 30 minutes.)

With thin sharp knife, cut dough into about 32 (1/4-inch-thick) triangular slices. Place cookie slices approximately 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake 7 to 11 minutes at 350 degF or until set. Cool 1 minute on sheet then move cookies to a cooling rack. Cool completely, about 15 to 30 minutes.

Frost cookies with white vanilla frosting. Place 2 pretzel twists on each triangle near corners for antlers. Lightly press 2 chocolate chips into each cookie for eyes and 1 halved gumdrop for nose. For the Rudolph effect, I suggest using red gumdrops or red M&M's.

Store these adorable Christmas cookies between sheets of waxed paper in tightly covered container. Pack these adorable cookies up in tins or holiday gift baskets to give your child's teacher, the mailman, and friends. Recipe & photo courtesy of Pillsbury.com.

Christmas Cookies: 50 Recipes to Treasure for the Holiday Season

Amazon Price: $2.64 (as of 05/30/2012)Buy Now

Avid holiday baker Lisa Zwirn baked hundreds of cookies to come up with these fabulous fifty recipes. There is something for everyone: treats for chocoholics, holiday shapes that children will love (that can be baked and decorated by the little ones, too), luxurious sandwich cookies, and plenty of spiced rounds, buttery wafers, and decadent bars.

Nutter Butter Reindeer Cookies

16 ounces chocolate-flavored candy coating
64 mini pretzel twists
1 (16 ounce) package Nutter Butter sandwich cookies
64 miniature M&M baking bits (blue or green) or white mini chocolate chips (for eyes)
32 cinnamonred cinnamon candies or red miniature M&M baking bits

Microwave the chocolate in a small glass dish on high for 3 minutes, stirring several times.

Line cookie sheets with wax paper or silpat. Dip each Nutter Butter cookie in the chocolate and place on the wax paper. Press two mini M&M's or white chocolate chips to make the reindeer eyes and a red candy or M&M to make the rudolph nose. You can use black piping gel to make the pupils on the eyes.

Form the antlers by dipping a small portion of each mini pretzel twist in chocolate and adhering it to the cookies on each side.

Let chocolate covered oreo cookies or Nutter Butters set up either at room temperature or in the refrigerator if you are in a hurry.
