I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month.
The Christmas Spirit Jar is a very simple idea. It is a way that you can recycle materials at hand, making it an inexpensive gift idea, but is a gift with a very heartfelt meaning.
You can make your own Christmas Spirit Jar by using canning jars or recycling jars and decorating them with materials you already have around the house. Fill the jar with something that embodies Christmas Spirit to you.
Give your Christmas Spirit jar as a unique gift to a friend, a teacher, a caregiver or keep it as a gift to your self.

How to Make a Christmas Spirit Jar
Here are the directions:
- 1Find a jar or a canister. It is likely that you have a jar around, or you can clean out a food jar for the project.

2Decide what you want to use to represent "Christmas Spirit."
- * It might be pieces of paper with Christmas wishes.
* It might be paper hearts with all the things that you love.
* It might be filled with sticky notes of things to be grateful for.
* It might be Christmas Potpourri.
* It might be Christmas Spirit Sprinkles - Salt or Baby Powder mixed with glitter.
* It might be tags with words that embody the spirit and meaning of Christmas.
* It might be tiny pine cones.
* It might be Christmas Spices.
* It might be hot cocoa. - 3Fill the jar with Christmas Spirit.

10 Steps to Get You in the Christmas Spirit
Here are some ideas of how to get into the Christmas Spirit.

- 1Shop early. Nothing takes away the Christmas spirit like fighting for parking and struggling through crowds.
- 2Wish people that you meet in stores and other casual environments a happy holiday. Say it with a smile.
- 3Place money into the Salvation Army kettles
- 4Do something nice for someone. Offer to baby-sit so a friend can do her Christmas shopping, take cookies to your neighbors, or shovel an elderly neighbor's walk.
- 5Volunteer your time to a worthy holiday cause. Even if you are busy, you can spare an hour or two to help people less fortunate than yourself.
- 6Organize a drive at work or in your neighborhood. Collect food and personal items and donate them to a local shelter for the homeless or for battered women.
- 7Play Christmas music.
- 8Watch Christmas movies. "Elf" , "Santa Clause" is a good one for reviving a flagging Christmas spirit, as is "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."
- 9Read "A Christmas Carol"
- 10Decorate your house for the holidays.
- 11Don't spend more money than you have. Anxiety over after-Christmas bills can ruin your holiday.

- Interesting idea. We were given a clock many years ago. It plays Christmas carols at the top of each hour. We liked the idea of keeping the Christmas spirit so much that it has never been packed away between Holiday Seasons. So walk into the Haule household and you may hear Silent Night or Joy to the World even though it is the middle of July!
