Ah ... flash forward to the countdown to Christmas 2011. I have hung a stocking this year, but it is not the typical tradition ... the ex got all the stockings, save for the leopard -er- jaguar Christmas stocking which I have hung. It is not a large one, but it captures the spirit of the season for me. Ho Ho Ho ... and a very Merry Christmas to you, my dear!

Ah, my hubby has several Christmas stockings from his younger years that we hang up each Christmas in hopes that St. Nick will fill them with goodies. Still waiting ...

I added two links to your plexo-Making Victorian Christmas Stocking, because hanging stockings is a tradition at Christmas, and also Letters to Santa because children writing letters to Santa is a very old tradition. I hope that was okay.

I didn't have a clue why people hung up stockings before. Thanks for the story!
