This lens is wonderful. I love trains and model trains. When my husband and I would got to any Hobby store or country fairs, we gravitated to the trains. You have done an excellent job on this lens. THANKS!

Thanks for the memories...got my first train, an American Flyer with a 6-6-4 Pacific Locomotive (with smoke from the stack, of course), back in 1947. Added to it until the mid-Fifties, when I gave it all to a nephew. Blessed.

When I was growing up, only the boys received train gifts. It didn't seem right. I say go out and buy the little (and even older) girls on your list an exquisite train set for Christmas. Even today I would love to have one. There's still time for my Christmas dream to come true, Santa.

I don't think boys (men) will never get tired of a full train set... :) Love them

It was great to stop by here.. My little one will get his first chuu chuu under chistmas tree this year.

Love this lens! We had the "platform" as my parents called it every Christmas, complete with trains and the Village. My husband's father passed on his original Lionel trains to him so we have been getting each piece restored to original condition - one at a time. Ebay has been a great resource for parts. Since we've been married (29+ years) we have always had a "platform" ! Our Bachmann train set is currently not running - but it still looks beautiful under the tree and is the centerpiece of the entire village. Christmas traditions such as this are wonderful!

Great job on this lens! :) Very cute. We have a little train set that goes around the base of the Christmas tree, it's so much fun to turn it on around Christmas with the lights sparkling. :)

What a great lens. I have not been able to afford a train set for years. Maybe soon. I do love the Polar Express and will be watching it again this year. Thanks

I lost my trains due to unfortunate circumstances. I had a very large set with all sorts of accessories circa the 1950s - so thanks for giving me some nostalgic looks at the trains.

Toot, toot! What a cute lens! We don't have a train set, but my father loves to set up his old set for the children for the holidays. (I'm not sure if he or the children have more fun!) =D

I hadn't visited the Christmas Trains in quite some time but I can see that you have added lots of fun interactive modules. We have always had a train set up under the Christmas Tree and each year I try to add something new.

All aboard!! Loved this train lens. Every year, there are Christmas train rides in Niles which go around Niles Canyon in the winter. These trains are completely decorated with colorful lights and will turn grown-ups into kids again. Blessed by a SquidAngel.

Born at home in Cleveland, Ohio, next to Nickel Plate Railroad, and lived there 14 years, having the puffer-bellies blow their whistles day and night. Two blocks away, the New York Central electric trains travelled on tracks under the large overpass bridge. Visited New York City via the Pennsylvania railroad into the old Penn. Station when I was 18.
Those days are probably gone forever and I miss them.

A fantastic lens. Now I want a train set for Christmas. I think I will use my boy as an excuse. I have favourited this, and am about to do the same with your Things Every Girl Should Have. Nice one.

Congratulations on LOTD! My dad is a train fanatic - he has graduated from a "small" set (HO gauge that took up half the basement) to a full blown garden railroad (his retirement present to himself :o) 5* and a big smile for a terrific lens!

I remember sneaking down at some ungodly hour on Christmas morning, around age 3 or 4, sitting on the steps (it was still dark out, I remember that) with my twin brother and looking down at a train all set up. Will never forget that "wow" factor -- and now as a parent I'm touched when I think of how late Dad probably stayed up to get it just right. Nice work, 5* and congrats on LotD :)
  • Laniann Dec 10, 2009 @ 7:28 pm | delete
Nice Christmas tradition to have. Seems like all that snow wouldn't be good for the train. 5*s

Lots of info here. You obviously have a passion. 5 stars. My grandfather had a Christmas train in his basement on a table and he left it there year round. Every time we visited we had to turn it on and marvel at it. The buildings in the center were named after his grandchildren: Patricia Chapel, Nancy Jo Village, etc.. Its a great memory.

This is an excellent lens! I have given it 5*
  • Evelyn_Saenz Nov 17, 2008 @ 12:36 pm | delete
After reading this lens I can hardly wait to set up the Christmas scene with a train running around under the tree. Thank you for the inspiration.
