Charming Christmas Tree With Vintage Style Bubble Lights

Lights That Bubble Merrily All The Way

Bubble lights are still popular among those who remember them from years ago. If you're want to create a vintage look to your Christmas decorating, bubble lights will help you.

One of my grandmothers had several sets of these on her tree. Visiting her house was probably the first time I ever saw these captivating lights.

The other Grandma had an artificial wreath with a single bulb, in the same position that a candle would have been. That Christmas decoration was usually hung in her kitchen window, visible indoors and out.

The older lights I remember always had red or green base sections and yellow or red bubbling liquid. The modern versions come in additional colors and plain white as well.

These lights are still available. If you've never had them, you might try a string or two to see how you like them. Note that they are fragile. Not suitable for touch by little fingers. And strictly for indoor use.

I totally loved these on my Grandma's tree - I remember my mom buying me a single bulb to put in my "candle" for my window (remember those) - I loved them so much that now that I am an adult - the first lights on my first tree as a married lady - were the red and green bubbling lights :O) Husband had never seen them, but he adores them as well now :)

I remember these lights - charming - didn't know you could still get them.
  • WindyWinters Dec 4, 2011 @ 3:32 am | delete
Yes, we still put them on our Christmas tree. I never thought of them as vintage as my parent never had them on their tree. I guess they are a bit old-fashioned but we love them!

These look fun, never seen these before.

When I was a child, some friends of my parents had bubble lights. I loved to just sit and watch them bubble. When they re-appeared in the store I had to get a set. I just gave them away when we moved into an RV this year. I loved the videos.

You know the vintage lights you show...I still have mine. Does that make me vintage? I love the bubble lights and always have. I like the history and a great job on finding videos.
