My Favorite Christmas Specials

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is getting out the Christmas specials and lining them up, ready to watch.  They only get to come out once a year - and I never get tired of them.  I seem to manage to find another one every year.  Check out this page of my favorites.

My Favorite Christmas Specials List

...in no particular order.

  • A Charlie Brown Christmas
  • Veggie Tales - The Toy That Saved Christmas
  • How The Grinch Stole Christmas
  • Nestor, The Long Eared Christmas Donkey
  • The Year Without A Santa Claus
  • The Muppets: A Christmas Carol
  • Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
  • Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
  • A Muppet Family Christmas
  • Frosty The Snowman

The Muppets: A Christmas Carol

"Light the lamp, not the rat! Light the lamp, not the rat!"

It took me a long time to find this one to have for my very own, and I was very pleased when I finally got to add it to my collection. Filled with Muppet-y goodness, and the classic Dickens tale. It's a perfect combination. And, there are many great one liners in here too.

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer

Ah yes, the classic underdog story of triumph from adversity. How I loved this show when I first saw it on television - and how I still love it to this day.

The Toy That Saved Christmas - The Veggie Tales

If you only ever watch one Veggie Tales cartoon, make it this one. The songs and add ins are so cute, and the story is a great one for kids and adults alike.

The Year Without A Santa Claus

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better - along comes another great Rankin Bass special - and this time we are given a closer look at Mrs. Claus and introduced to the Heat Miser and the Cold Miser.

Muppet Family Christmas

Such a fun gathering of Muppet's for Christmas. It makes for a great celebration when they all get together at the farmhouse and have an unexpected, yet wonderful, celebration.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

I remember thinking what a great idea this show was when I first saw it on television. Finally, all those questions I had about Santa Claus and things about him were answered. Make sure to watch it if you have any remaining questions.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

The original cartoon Grinch is a must see for me every Christmas. I just love poor sweet Max the dog. And, of course when The Grinch's heart grows.

Frosty The Snowman

Who can resist Frosty The Snowman's sweet naivete and wonderful spirit. I certainly can't.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" is a long time favorite of almost everyone. My two favorite things are the "Charlie Brown" tree and Linus' speech on the meaning of Christmas.

Nestor, The Long-Eared Christmas Donkey

Nestor is a humble little donkey who is informed that he is to be the donkey that gets to carry Mary on her journey. This is classic Rankin Bass - and just oh so sweet.

We've been watching (listening) to Christmas specials since Thanksgiving. My favorite is The Grinch. He's so nasty he's lovable.
